Chapter 27 Leaf dragon

"I want to tame a leaf dragon", said Jasmine with a smile on her face.

After hearing her request, everyone looked at her with a worried face because dragons were the rarest and the toughest beasts to tame and they tend to go out of control as they age, so people often don't choose dragons as their first beast.

But Jasmine was firm on her decision. The teacher saw Jasmine's determination and decided to make some calls to check for the availability of leaf dragons.

"You are lucky! A new batch had arrived only yesterday", said the teacher to Jasmine with a worried yet happy smile on his face. They moved together towards the end of the habitat.

After some time they arrived in front of a big cave. The teacher once again confirmed the location of the leaf dragon and confirmed that it was inside the cave. Together they went inside the cave.

Ben could see a lot of green moss growing around every part of the cave and remembered what he learned in a book, about how leaf dragons live in dark and humid areas and come out only to hunt.

They reached the end of the cave and felt a light breeze on their bodies. Ben turned on his eye and felt a huge greenish color energy wave in his eye and he stumbled unable to stand due to the huge pressure he was feeling from the depth of the cave. He quickly stood up before anyone could notice him and adjusted his glasses and followed the rest of them.

Ben's group had already reached the end of the room and were watching the leaf dragon mother, which was looking at them. Ben slowly joined the group and was amazed to see the huge dragon and understood why everyone stood looking at it.

Suddenly, Jasmine who was watching like the rest of them went near the dragon and petted it, Max got excited and tried to do the same but the dragon growled at him. "Good girl, Lessie he is just a friend don't worry", said Jasmine and calmed the dragon down.

Everyone looked at her with shock, except for the teacher. "Your father would get real mad if you do things without his permission", said the teacher slowly.

"Well he was the one to suggest this, and you don't have to stick to me everywhere, I am safe here I got my friends with me and he also told me Lessie would be here after her first egg-laying and I could take one of her offspring as my first beast as he said it was easier to register with school this way," said Jasmine with a sly smile on her face. "Master James told me to grant whatever beast you and your friends ask, but I never thought he would let you take a leaf dragon as your first beast", said the teacher with a slight disappointment in his voice. Everyone looked at the two silently as they could not make head or tail of what they were speaking about. Jasmine looked at her friends and explained about her family who was beast tamers and they were one of the beast tamers who give beasts for this sanctuary and how she was acquainted with Jacob their homeroom teacher. Now they understood everything.

After explaining everything to her friends and moved towards the dragon and kept her hand on its head and petted it, then she slowly told it to move. Under the dragon were four eggs, she took one of the eggs and placed it in an incubator.

Ben wanted to observe the eggs, so he went near the dragon, to his surprise the dragon let him near and even let him touch it. Ben slowly petted the dragon and activated his eye, to look at the eggs. He felt the same energy pass through the surroundings, but he felt that the immense wave had become less intense than before and a bit friendly too.

Ben looked at the eggs putting all his effort into it as he could sense only faint energy emitted by them. But even though they were faint he could still sense them, except for one egg all the other eggs had the same green color even the egg that Jasmine had in her incubator, but this egg was different it was smaller than other eggs still it had a mix of brown and green color energy in it. The color emitted by the egg was beautiful and its energy was a little big greater than the other eggs.

Jacob and Jasmine stared at Ben for some time as they didn't understand how Lessie had let a stranger pet him

"Jasmine why don't you take this egg instead of that one", said Ben pointing at the egg, before Jasmine put the incubator inside her storage bag. Everyone looked at Ben with gleaming eyes as they understood it was one of the powers of his eye, so Jasmine didn't ask any questions and changed the egg and put the incubator into her storage.

Jacob wondered what relationship Ben and Jasmine had because Jasmine had obeyed someone other than her dad without any questions,that too a person from a weaker family, and on something where she had immense knowledge than Ben.

Jasmine didn't care about the egg she chose as she would always treat any beast with the same love, but she didn't understand why Ben told her to take a different egg, but she didn't ask any questions because she didn't want Ben's eye to be revealed to the teacher even though he was one of her dad's disciples.

Jacob also didn't want to poke his nose on other people's business, so he left the subject untouched and asked Max what beast he wanted to tame next. "I want a mangrove panda", said Max with a slight smile on his face.

Mangrove pandas looked exactly like normal pandas except for their teeth and their appetite, the mangrove pandas were crazed for fish and jack fruits. They lived in places where these were available a lot in number. They looked cute and chubby and were peace lovers and lived above trees, but unlike normal pandas, they had retractable teeth and claws. If anyone messes with them, they are sure to break a bone or two. They were high in number and were found in the wild commonly.

Jacob slowly led the group of students out of the cave towards the jackfruit grove inside the habitat where these pandas could be found.
