I ran across the room like any other but filled with traps and puzzles to stop me. The voice called out to me over and over for me to give up. But I wasn't going to for a long time. The zombies roam the halls looking for me, but I only took out the smaller ones. My body was tired and weak, so I took my time to find a safe place to rest a bit. But over time I named the different types of zombies. The Smartass was good with opening doors and seeing if someone was in the room. The Brut was very large and could snap you in half. Blind One was the most dangerous with their ability to hear or smell you in the room. But the two easiest were the Runners and Walkers. They are the normal size of a human and don't really think about their surrounding.
But most of them stayed in groups to hunt me down, but wouldn't take long to kill me alone. So I walked around for hours and seen that they weren't around and it was weird. They would normally charge me and try to kill me, but now they stopped.
"Day one is almost over!" the voice chirped.
"Closer to kill your ass then," I yelled with fire in my eyes.
"I can't be killed here," it replied.
"What?" I questioned.
"I'm alive like you, but stuck in one body and many minds." it sighed, "The ones that wander outside without a thought are turned because of me."
Apart of me felt bad, but at the same time, I wanted this to end. My friends and pets were all I could think about. I want them to live, but what am I to do in this state of mind. I was losing hope of leaving here alive. It seemed like I had one more day, but here felt so long. Running and killing Zombies were take a toll on my body as I was breaking down. I needed to make out, but I also wanted to give up at the same time.
"I'll add a new monster," it replied as it wanted me to die. This was the only time I have to see my friends again with their smiles. Holding onto my knife and walked to the next room and hoped that I would die today or the next. I wasn't going to let it take over my body and soul. But when I went to the next room and heard a scream so loud that it pushed me to the wall. I didn't know what hit me, but my ears started to bleed a little bit.
Looking over to see a woman in white and covered in blood. Her jaw hanged low as blood dropped to the floor. What the hell was that thing as it got closer to me. But all I knew was that day two had begun and the dinner bell had been rung. I lifted myself up from the floor and ran. Hoping that I could try to think of a plan, but was stopped by a zombie that looked like Jade. Her skin was pale and she smiled as I came closer into range. Her hand held a shotgun and soon I dropped to the floor. Forcing her to kill that Bitch behind me as I forced the knife into her head. Falling to the ground with cold white eyes. I knew that it wasn't Jade, but a figment of my imagination or memories. But I wasn't going to let it mess with my life.
"You should stay out of people's memories!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. Pissed that whoever this is, is messing with my memories for his sick game.
"What the fun of that?" it replied with a cold, childish laugh. "I get to see you kill your friends over and over."
"I'll kill you bastard!" I yelled while walking down the hall. Seeing if anything else is nearby without a thought in mind. Nothing was there, but it didn't last long as I felt the ground move a little. The sounds of zombies came down the hall and I took my chance in another room. They went by, but I was locked in. Seeing that the room was filled with items covered in blood. But a note laid still on the ground drawn in a colored pencil.
It read "If you want to get out of this room, but have to kill what is inside." I was thinking that I had to kill something in here or it was a puzzle of some kind. So I looked to see if anything was around and there was nothing, but a button to a cage. I didn't like the look of it, but I push it to see what it was. The sound started with crashing and the sounds of bones being crushed. It didn't long as a Brut stood tall as blood was still on its hands.
Breathing in and out to calm me was all I could do. A knife couldn't kill that thing, but maybe I could outsmart it. The ground moved as it got closer, but I went between its legs and cut it. Hoping that it did something. but all it did was piss it off, making its choices more rash than before. I could make it smack between the wall for it to weaken or keep hacking at its legs. Repeating stabbing in its leg as it stumbles around in the room. Hitting the walls and making more noise than I wanted in the first place. I knew it was hours, but all I could do was force it to hit walls. After a while it fell to the ground, bleeding, and wasn't dead. The knife in hand was now inside its head over and over as I forced the last bit of my energy. Hoping that it will kill it, but soon the old oak door open for me to leave.
I was tired of this mess and wanted to go home with my friends. Looking over to see the room change again, but it blackens and was cold. Knowing that this god-awful day of running and killing was over. Looking over to see a figure, a small figure to what could be a child. But all it did was smile in the darkness as I came closer to it, but stopped in my tracks.
"You made it!" it laughed.
"...." I didn't say anything to it as I saw a little boy with blonde hair. He was causing so much pain to people but thought it was fun and games to him. I wanted him dead and to stop this pain in our lives. To be normal without having to kill zombies over and over. But I couldn't do it here, but maybe one day if I find him.
"Cat caught your tongue?" he asked, "or are you wanting to leave without question."
"What the hell are you..." I replied.
"You call my virus 'Devil', but I didn't choose this life," he answered while sitting on the ground. "All of this is a game to me. A game you won like a few others."
"Others?" I said confused.
"Ones that have the Echo Gene. The only ones that can live without dying of the virus. The gene that can give you the abilities of no other. Sadly I didn't have this gene, but lived as a king." Devil replied.
"Well, I'm going to make sure your dead at the end of this." I hissed as it smiled, leaving me to take my body once again. But he looked at me and smile without being childish, but I looked away again.
"One thing you should know," he replied.
"And what is that?" I sighed.
"You can not turn as others can anymore, but your friends can turn a bite or deep scratch. Make sure to watch their backs!" he laughed and left me in the dark. It was that lonely feeling again, but less cold and dark than before. All I felt was a sheet under me and hear voices of Jade screaming at someone. Knowing that they figured out that I was bitten. That they would choose my fate when I wake up.
