S2| 46. As a Man

As soon as she opened the apartment door, Mia's eyebrows rose to the max. She didn't expect the CEO to greet her warmly.

"Good evening, Miss Sanders. That dress looks perfect on you,” Julian said, raising the corners of his lips.

Instead of being flattered, the girl sighed in disbelief. "Why are you here, Sir? Aren't you supposed to go get Miss Johnson?"

"What for? She said she could come to the restaurant herself,” Julian replied innocently.

"Did she say it when you offered to pick her up?" Mia inquired with a faint shake of the head.

"No. I said that it would be more effective if we just met there. She agreed and declared her independence. Miss Johnson doesn't mind, Mia."

Hearing that seemingly nonchalant answer, the secretary automatically lowered her head and tried to remove the heavy air from the lungs. But apparently, one long puff was still not enough to free the chest from tightness.
