Chapter 7

Holidays passed, it is unknown when, as soon as July passed, August passed so quickly and it was necessary to come back for my last year at this school. I spent July meeting with girls, and this is at one of their homes and in the city. I did not tell anyone what happened to me and what Luke did to me, I wore long sleeves and managed to hide the bruises and a bruised back the next day.

I spent most of August alone at home because the girls were going on trips with their families or they didn't have time. My mother and Jacek took a month's vacation and decided to go and rest. My stepfather asked if I would like to go with them, but my mother had a different opinion and was offended for a couple of days by the lunatic. Not wanting to put Jack in an even more complicated situation, I told them to go alone and my mother was happy that I did not agree. They left me money for food for goodbye and Jack promised to call every few days to ask if everything was alright. As he promised, he did, every three or four days he called and talked to me for a while. In the background, I always heard my mother telling him to finish talking. Every time I felt a twinge of pain when I heard her words, I didn't understand why she had changed so much and why I was bothering her so much. I tried to get out of her way and demanded nothing from her, it was Jack who talked to me more than she did.

August was gloomy and rainy so the weather was good for sitting at home and lazing about, which I did almost every day. Fortunately, I did not have the opportunity to meet Luke or any of his friends, which I really enjoyed because I had peace and I did not walk with bruises.

After two months of freedom, there was a period of going back to school, getting up every morning, exhausting people for several hours a day, and then studying for the next day of school. I was climbing the steps leading to the main entrance of the school. Lots of teenagers passed me, some greeted friends after a few days of not seeing each other, others were already standing in groups and discussing various topics, and I walked between them, going to my locker to leave books that would not be useful to me for the next three hours. My locker was on the ground floor at the end of the corridor, which meant I had to pass all these people. Not drawing attention to myself, I pushed my way through, walking at a brisk pace until after a while I reached the destination of my trip. Lisa and Simone were standing under the cupboard, smiling in my direction.

-Hey girls, how are you?- I asked opening the cupboard and hiding unnecessary things inside.

-For hunks, sure, but for studying and sitting at school, I'll never be ready- groaned Lisa who, despite her reluctance to school, studied really well.

-It's not going to be so bad, this year will pass quickly and then we'll just have college,- Simone tried to cheer her up and I was just listening.

-I know, the only plus is I will have someone to look at in class-, the blonde laughed.

-Anyone new to class?- I asked surprised and looked at the blonde.

-You don't know? Luke and his friends go to classes with you, and I think all you have. He failed again and chose classes where there were places, which are the same as you- Simone explained.

When I looked at the girl I noticed that she had colored streaks in her hair, and in combination with her brown hair, the colored strands of hair looked lovely.

-Oh no why just with me- I moaned despairingly.

-Find the positives, there will be something to look at- Lisa laughed until a few people looked in our direction.

I rolled my eyes and closed the cupboard with a bang, which made a few people stare but I didn't care and walked quickly to the classroom where I was supposed to have classes. I did not take too much care that I left the girls, but the news that I will have classes with Luke effectively ruined my day and the mood from positive became depressive.

I was sitting on the bench in front of the room, wondering what kind of bad luck I must have for Luke and his crowd of thugs to go to the same classes as me. Despite my attempts to avoid him, everything has to turn against me anyway, and Luke appears in my way like some kind of boomerang.

Not wanting to worry more about my bad luck, I took out my phone and started going through the phone waiting for the bell to ring and we could enter the room. It took 5 minutes to start, so I watched some silly videos on the phone to make it go faster.

-Are you killing time watching this shit?- I heard a voice on the right and I immediately raised my head and saw Peter looking at me, who was sitting next to me.

-Mhm .. what's a crime?- I asked boredom in my voice and raised my eyebrows up.

Luke stood next to Peter and Mike stood next to the blonde looking at me menacingly.

-Sure it doesn't, but it conveys nothing,- explained Peter smiling.

-At least I'm not looking at people's fake faces- I yelled back and the buzzer rang at the same time so I quickly stood up, pushing past Mike blocking the passage.

I was the first to enter the room and took a bench in the second row from the window to be able to watch the view from behind the window. I couldn't sit too far from the blackboard because I couldn't see everything. Sitting on the bench, I took a few deep breaths to calm myself down. The situation that happened made me feel threatened even though they didn't really do anything but their mere presence makes me feel anxious.

Three boys were the last to enter the class, right after the teacher, the first one was Luke with a gloomy expression on his face, followed by Peter smiling a little, and at the end was Mike. The last of the boys walked past my bench.

-Be careful who you call fake- the boy whispered in my ear and walked away to the last empty bench by the window.

The lesson started and I couldn't concentrate when I knew they were in the same class and were only sitting a bit away from me.

After 45 minutes, the lesson was finally over, so I packed my stuff as soon as possible and even ran out of the classroom to find myself away from these three for a while. Throughout the lesson, I felt their eyes on me, all the time one of them was watching me as if they wanted to x-ray me. After a while, I cooled down and in the crowd of people, I started to head to the next room for the next class I had with Simone and Clare. Going up the stairs to the second floor, I met a girl and we went together towards the room.

-How's the first class?- the brunette asked looking over the phone.

-They flew away quickly, boring as usual- I shrugged, not wanting to tell her the situation before class.

The girl did not ask about anything else, but wrote with someone on the phone, not paying much attention to the surroundings, only when I told her to be careful for a moment, she raised her head from the phone and a moment later she looked at the screen again.

In front of the physics room, Clare was waiting for us. As soon as she saw us, she quickly approached and began to get excited about the fact that she would be able to look at Luke and his friends. The girl cared only about being handsome, the rest didn't matter. Not wanting to hear more about the blonde, I pulled out my phone and started browsing through what's new in the world. Both girls were discussing some series that they started watching and were talking about the plot and the characters. I wasn't on the subject, so I didn't say anything and when the bell rang, I entered the room and sat down on the bench. I took the front bench, as usual, to better see and be as far away as possible from Peter and the rest. Clara sat in the back because, as she said, "I will be able to admire the cookies unnoticed" which for me is stupid, but if the girl is going crazy, there is no turning back. Nothing would convince her before changing her mind. Simone was sitting on the bench behind me so we could chat sometimes.

The classes passed exceptionally quickly considering that we were working in groups throughout the whole lesson. After leaving the room, Clara was indignant because, as she said, all four of them were looking in my direction and I am not someone special. The indignation in her voice as she spoke was palpable. I didn't know why it annoys her so much, since I'm trying to avoid them.

-They looked at you throughout the lessons. I don't know what they looked at when you look on average.

-What just happened?-Simone asked, surprised.

-I don't know, but she must have gone crazy- I looked in the direction Clara had left.

At Clary's words, I felt offended because I didn't understand why she was talking to me like that. After all, I did not ask them to look at me, I did not want that and the girl should not rise to me and insult me. She had never acted like this before, and if she wanted to get their attention, something had to be done to make them look at her and not blame me.

Until the end of the class, I didn't speak much and I didn't see Clare again, although I had one more class with her. When Simone told Lisa about the situation Clare had put off at lunch, she was surprised and told Lisa that she was crazy. Even though I knew I hadn't done anything wrong, I had a gloomy mood by the end of the day.
