Chapter 6

At 10 am I was woken up by the alarm clock set in the evening. Sleepy, I turned off the phone and rose to a sitting position to wake up a little. I rubbed my eyes and looked towards the window that was shining through the sun. I picked up the phone, leaned against the headboard, and turned on the TV so that the room would not be silent. For 30 minutes I was browsing the phone and writing to the group where I, Simone, Lisa, and Clara are, what time should we meet and where exactly. When I was hungry enough, I pulled myself up and got out of bed. I turned off the TV, took my phone, and headed for the door going out into the corridor going downstairs. The house was quiet so there is probably no one at home. I went down the stairs slowly, going straight to the kitchen. I put the phone on the counter and then walked over to the refrigerator, opening it. After a moment's thought, I decided to eat pancakes with jam for breakfast. I pulled out all the ingredients for my breakfast and set to making the dough. It didn't take long and after 15 minutes I was ready to cook pancakes. When I fried the pancakes I put three on my plate and spread the jam and then wrapped it. I put a fork on my plate, poured myself some orange juice in a glass, and sat on the couch turning on the TV. While eating breakfast, I watched cartoons. After I finished eating and drank the juice, I took the dishes to the kitchen and put them in the dishwasher. When I finished cleaning the kitchen I heard an incoming message so I went to the counter where the phone was lying and I saw who was writing. It was a group message from Simone who wrote that we should meet at 1 pm at the gallery. I looked at the time on the phone which said it was 11.32 so in order not to be late I decided to go get dressed and get ready. I turned off the still-playing TV and headed upstairs. Entering the room, I immediately went to the wardrobe to choose clothes. In the meantime, I checked the weather which showed that it will be a really warm day. I opted for shorts and a T-shirt and just in case the weather was bad, I took a long-sleeved cardigan. I took my underwear from the dresser and went to the bathroom where I changed and brushed my teeth. Disguised, I went back to the room where I went to the dressing table and put on a delicate makeup consisting of mascara and eyeliner. I didn't even notice until 12:14 pm and I had to get to the bus. From the wardrobe, I took my purse into which I packed my phone, headphones, wallet, and keys. Leaving the room I looked for the last time if I had taken everything and went downstairs. I put my sneakers on by the door and left the house, locking the door. Before going to the bus stop, I checked 2 times if I had locked the door for sure. The way to the gallery took me 40 minutes due to the traffic jams. I spent the whole way listening to music on headphones.

I was the first in front of the gallery so I sat down on a nearby bench waiting for the rest that came soon for me.

-Hey, have you been waiting long?- Lisa approached me first.

-I arrived recently-I smiled and hugged the blonde in greeting.

Soon after, Simone and Clara showed up, and the four of us headed to the gallery. We went shopping because, as it turned out, Simone's mother is having a birthday soon and the brown-haired girl has to buy her a present. During the search for the gift, we told Clara about our trip. Clara couldn't come with us then because her parent in May organized a trip to Egypt with the whole family at the same time as ours. When we told what was happening with us, Clara got excited about what she saw.

-It was so warm there. I spent most of my time in the pool where there were a lot of handsome guys- the brunette frowned, Lisa and I laughed.

-What did I miss? What are you laughing at?- We were approached by Simone who was paying for a bracelet for mom at the checkout.

-Clara was delighted with the guys in Egypt,- Lisa explained to the brown-haired girl.

Clara continued talking about the trip to Egypt as we walked around the gallery until we went to a cafe where she took care of the previously ordered cake. Each of us took something to eat and drink. We sat in the cafe for 2 hours until each of us decided to go home.

-Give you a lift home?- Simone asked.

-Thanks but I'll go for a walk-, I smiled and hugged my brunette goodbye.

-Okay, bye- I waved the girl and left the gallery heading towards the house.

I wanted to walk, think, breathe air, and listen to music. Turning on the music, I noticed that it was already 5:23 pm, I didn't even know that we were sitting in the gallery with the girls for so long. Returning home, I found that I would take a walk in the park before I actually came home. Walking through the streets, passing hundreds of people, I felt like nobody. Nobody would notice if I disappeared, I wasn't really important to anyone. There were maybe 10 people in the world who would take over my disappearance or even death. Ten people out of seven billion people. Thinking about it more is not much.

Before I noticed I was in the park where I sat on the bench, turned off the music, and put the headphones in my purse. I was sitting on the bench watching the park full of people. In the park, on the playground, there were a lot of families with children who ran and laughed and their parents chased them. Among the many people who enjoyed the day, I wondered if anyone would notice my death.

I was awakened by the laughter of a 4-year-old girl who was running around me. When I looked at her, she smiled at me and ran on. As she circled the bench on which I was sitting for the third time, she tripped over a pebble and fell. I stood up quickly, helping her to her feet, brushing off the dirt that stuck to her knees.

-All right?- I asked smiling so she wouldn't cry.

-Bubu hurts- she showed towards her knees, which were slightly rubbed.

-Mom to kiss her knees and it won't hurt but we have to find her first, what do you say?- I looked at the girl whose eyes were glass as if she was about to cry.

The girl nodded and put her hands up so I guessed that her legs were hurting and she couldn't walk.

I lifted her in my arms and headed in the direction she showed her mom. When I approached the bench where the woman was sitting, the girl shouted in her direction "Mommy".

The woman in the blue dress immediately looked in your direction and jumped up from the bench and ran towards us.

-She was playing at my bench and she fell. She broke her knees and she could not walk so I decided to bring her so that nothing would happen to her and you did not worry- I gave the girl to her mother who hugged her right away.

-Thank you very much, I did not even notice that she ran away from the playground- she looked at the girl's lap and stroked the little head.

-You're welcome, baby, remember, tomorrow they won't hurt anymore.

The meeting with the little girl made me feel better, so I decided to come back home. Walking between the alleys of the park, I headed for the exit from the park. On the way, I had to bump into someone as usual. The impact was so strong that I fell back on the concrete.

-Ouch- I groaned in pain, slowly getting up.

When I looked at the object I ran into, it turned out to be Luke for the fear of the city and the same boy who goes to school with me.

The blonde came up to me and grabbed my forearm, squeezing it

-Watch out when you go idiot,- he hissed in my ear.

-Let go of me and you too could watch- I tried to tear my hand away, but he held it too tight.

-Remember who you are talking to. I can hurt you, not the other way around, do you understand?- the grip on my shoulder tightened even more.

-I'm asking do you understand?- he was gripping my arm so tightly he was about to break my bones.

-Yeah,- I groaned in pain and when he heard the answer, he let go of my arm and pushed me, which made me stagger and flew onto the concrete, landing with my back.

After that, the boy quickly walked deeper into the park and I slowly got up, massaging my throbbing arm. I took my purse and it slipped off my shoulder and went home quickly. Being in front of the house, I noticed the lights on, so I quickly went inside and headed straight to my room. Entering the room, I took off my purse and tossed it towards the bed. I headed to the bathroom and stood in front of the mirror, in the reflection I noticed purple spots on the skin that were getting larger and had a handprint. The blonde was squeezing my shoulder tight enough to bruise me. I've always had a bruise-prone body and it didn't take much to get bruised. Harder blow and I bruised right away, but now half my arm is blue. I'll have to cover it so no one will find out.

Being in the bathroom, I decided to take a shower because I was dirty after meeting the ground. It was hard for me to wash because it was my right hand that was sore. Slowly after almost 30 minutes, I was able to wash and wipe. Clean, wrapped in a towel, I returned to the room to put on my pajamas. I specially chose the long sleeves so that mum or Jack would not notice the bruise when I was in the pajamas on the bottom or when they looked.

Due to the excess of sensations during the day, I fell asleep much earlier than usual. The last thing I heard was the opening and closing of my room door. Probably Jack checked to see if I was asleep.
