Chapter 57: The contract:

"Princess please wake up. His highness Prince Tian You wish to see you in the imperial gardens" Ruo Xi stated. Ruo Xi was one of my second-grade maids. Tao mama had literally just left. What does Prince Tian You want now? I nodded at her and proceeded to ask An Ping to grab me a fan. Today was really hot. And the sun hadn't set yet. A fan would surely keep me cool. I slowly walked over to the imperial garden admiring the view as I go along. Soon these petals would start to fall, it is nearing autumn now. In the distance, I could see a dashing young man sitting underneath the pavilion drinking some water tea. Next to this dashing young man, I could see another man holding something in his hands. I quickly walked up to him to see what he might wanna say. As soon as I step underneath the pavilion Li Tian You turned his head around and nodded at me. In return, I also nodded my head. He gestured for me to sit opposite him. When I took my seat I noticed that he had cut his fringe. His fringe used to be up to the length of his chin but now it was just pasted his eyes. He was wearing a light blue hanfu and I was wearing a golden and red hanfu. Red blouse and golden bottom. His hair was tied up in a ponytail and mine was up in two braids hanging on the side of my hair.

"Prince, may I know why you asked to meet me today?" I gently asked starting the conversation. At this moment a gust of wind blew past fluttering his fringe at this moment his face looked really cute. Cute? What am I thinking? He brushed his hair using his fingers and replied "Let's be honest both of us don't want this marriage. You only want to get away from the possibility of marrying into the Apollo Kingdom and I'm just following my father's dying wish. I won't hide from you but I've got someone I love. In the future, if you ever fall in love with someone I would willingly divorce you so that you can have a happy future. And since me and you don't love each other I've come here to set up a contract with you,". A contract? I've heard of this. Many noble families would set up a contract with their wives if their marriage was a political one. I should have thought of this first. "So I've written all the clauses I want in it. You can add the clauses you want in the contract," he added handing me a document and pen. I hastily looked at them there were 4 in total:

1) To act as if we are a loving couple.

2) If I ever want to marry a concubine you've no say in this matter. And if you wanted to marry your true love I would also let you go.

3) You don't tell me what to do and I won't intervene in your private matter.

4) I hope you would respect and treat my family well and in return, I will do the same to the ones you love.

I don't mind upholding to this but reading the second one made my heart ache. I nodded at him to confirm my choice. I grabbed the pen dipped some ink and began to write:

5) You are not allowed to touch me without my permission. If we were asked to show some affection a hug is the highest limit

6) If you are allowed to have a concubine then I am also allowed to keep a male companion with me if I choose not to divorce.

7) If one day one of my maids ever does something wrong you are not allowed to punish them only I can punish them. The same goes for your servant.

8) I treat you and your family with respect and hopefully, you can treat me with respect.

I don't know what else to add so I handed the document back to him. Tian You nodded and muttered, "I can allow number 6 as long as no one finds out. But if you ever fall in love with someone else do tell me,". I nodded and he proceeded to copy two versions of the contract. One for me and one for him. He underlined clearly which ones were my clauses and which one was his. And that was how we ended our day... I sent him out of the palace and finally breathed a sign of relief. I could finally rest.
