Chapter 71: Lin Xin Er

"Two years ago, before I was due to meet you. I was investigating a cult that breeds young children to kill with poison. However, I was found by one of their guards after a child wanted me to take them away. I couldn't at that time and that kid began crying attracting the guard's attention. Hence I had to run away quite quickly, leaving the poor kid behind. However, unlucky I got poisoned by one of their needles that was shot from a long distance. And so I fell from a hill and into a nearby village. It was Lin Xin'er who first spotted me," I began explaining whilst grabbing some tea to moisten my throat. Gege prompt me to continue my story. I nodded and started again.

" Perhaps I was lucky because the cult never sent a search team to check whether or not I was dead. Maybe they thought that the poison contained in the needle would kill me but it couldn't because the Han poison in my body protects me from any other poison which is why many poison assassinations haven't worked. Xin'er found me on the edge of the valley. At that time I was half-conscious but I could still see who was helping me. Mind you I was heavier than her but she was still able to take me home after a while. I don't remember what happened when I was unconscious but when I woke the first person I saw was Xin'er. Our first encounter was kind of weird. I immediately grabbed onto her neck and asked who she was. Her name was Lin Xin'er. When I found out she was nothing but a village girl I let her go. However, I noticed the face mask on the side. The mask that I usually used when I was out on a secret expedition. She wanted to catch her breath back so she rushed out of the room. I hastily looked around and noticed that it was quite a small room with only the necessities. Before I could explore what sort of place this was the young lady had walked back in. She then asked me who I was and at that time I pretended to lose my memory. She expected it and I lived with her for six months before I left again," I concluded.

Gege looked me in the eye and asked "That's it?". I nodded and gave him a confused look. What else was he expecting? "So what happened during the time you stayed with Miss Lin?" gege questioned. I signed but didn't say anything that was all too private for him to know. The moments we shared were only meant for me and her. Seeing that I didn't say anything Gege then asked "What was she like?". I smiled at this question and happily shared my thoughts "Xin'er is shorter than me by a whole head. She may not be the prettiest person on earth, but in my heart, she's the prettiest. Mind you she's anything but ugly. Although she was a commoner's daughter her skin and hands were quite flawless like a noble lady's. I later found out this was because her uncle who lived and looked after her didn't let her do any hard jobs. She has a heart of gold. She never really wanted me to waste money on her because she believes it isn't worth it. To be honest, during the time I was with her it made me forget that I'm the son of Prince Zi. She likes animals, especially rabbits so I used to always buy her cute rabbits that were on sale in the market however her trashy gege had to skin it alive to eat. Because of that incident, she refuses to eat any meat. Most of her childhood trauma was because of her brother," When I was talking about her brother my whole face fell and I suppose gege realised.
