Chapter 79: The morning court (2):

Tian Hao POV:

Not long later, we arrived at the capital. I had set off an hour early so that I could make sure we arrived on time. There were still 10 mins until the morning court is due to start.

Hence, I decided to look around the capital. It's been so long since I've been here. The last time I was in the capital was when my father died.

The usually busy streets were still so quiet, I suppose it's because it was quite early now. Although it was early there were already people setting up their store. I asked the man driving the carriage to stop for a moment. I wanted to grab some steamed buns to eat. Yu Mo looked at me when he noticed me going to get some buns. "What?" I asked whilst he shook his head. What's with his expression?

I hopped back onto the coach and it when on its way to the palace gates. I was stopped at the gate however when I gave the guards my badge they let me in very respectfully. While I suppose Tian You is someone who everyone has to respect. I mean he is the only son of the late Prince Zi and also he is the third princess's husband. ahh.

Look at how well his life is. Unlike mine. Even when my parents died, I can only see them after their death and not when they were dying... Come on Li Tia Hao, we told ourselves not to think these thoughts.

The carriage stopped right at the throne room. I got off quickly and saw that it was almost time for the court to start. I rush inside and greeted all the officials who were bothered to say morning to me. I walked over to the front of the hall where my place was. As the emperor doesn't have any sons so all of his nephews are at the beginning of the long lines of officials. There were 2 lines of officers from the highest position to grade 6 officers. Anything below that isn't needed in court unless there is something that needs them. Apart from the princes, all the officers were wearing purple robes.

"HERE COMES THE EMPEROR," the eunuch shouted. We all got on our knees and chorused "We wish the emperor longevity,". "Everyone please get up," he ordered as we all got up. "So does anyone have anything to discuss about?" he asked whilst I heard the governor or Gusu stand out. He was a 6th-grade officer so he was standing at the back. "You Majesty, Gusu has been flooding again. I hope that you'll send someone who will help give out help towards the villagers. Also please give some funds to Gusu. This is already the second flood this season already. Autumn is usually the worst climate for Gusu," explained the officer. The emperor nodded and asked, "Is there anyone who wishes to go to Gusu?" Everyone whispered around and there wasn't a single person who wishes to. "Your majesty," I stated whilst everyone turned their attention towards me. "I wish to head towards Gusu. I definitely wish to help the villagers that are affected by the flood," I explained whilst thinking that I must make sure Didi goes and find Lin'er.

"Mnnn," the emperor moaned whilst he was stroking his beard thinking whether or not me going to Gusu was an ok situation. "Tian You, are you sure you wish to go to Gusu?" he asked whilst I nodded and assured him I wanted to. "Alright then, you can go and set out in 2 weeks. However, you must bring Chiu Yueng with you. Take it as a honeymoon," he ordered whilst I nodded and assured him I would take Chiu Yeung with me. However, I was thinking very frantically right now. With Chiu Yeung here could Tian You still go and meet Xin'er? Uhh, why did His Majesty want me to take Chiu Yeung with me?

The court ended soon as nobody had anything else to talk about. I walked slowly out of the hall feeling the wind brush by my robe. Today was so brilliant.
