Chapter 19- Protection

She made her way to the mansion and couldn't believe this was where she was going to be leaving soon, it felt surreal. As she walked in she was greeted with a lot of visitors, females to be exact crowding Devonte in the living room. Mariyah just glared at them, she felt something in her heart, anger and jealousy mixed together. " Don't worry about that." Devin said. 'Just great.' she said in her mind. She turned back and saw Devin leaning against the wall, was he trying to seduce her. "You look ridiculous right now, all of your poses don't work on me." she blurted out.

"So you're happy being with a man who is happy with other women huh?" he asked. "Well.. you're not different." she snapped back at him. "See Mariyah, this life is simple ya know. Devonte would be happy if you were or were not in his life." he said and that made her to looked back at him again, enjoying his time . He didn't even notice her presence.

Devin was smirking at her but she was angry at this sight she saw, she ran out of the house determined to go back to her apartment. "Mariyah stop!" Devin shouted. She stopped and waited for him to run to her. "I know this might seem crazy but running away isn't the best answer ." he said . "Then what is huh, I should be the invisible girlfriend of Mr.Devonte right?" tears started to flow down her eyes like a river.

"Mariyah calm down okay? Follow me. I'll show you your room and talk to that idiot." he said almost pleadingly, for some reason she believed him and followed him to a room that was lilac, ger favourite colour. "Stay here and wait." he commanded her and left the room and Mariyah started to think. Was it worth it? Did she have to be with a cheater like him? 'I hate all men.' she said in her mind, she didn't plan to stay in this mansion any longer. 'After this night I'll leave '. she said inwardly

Devonte walked in , his eyes filled with sadness. "I- ", "Save it Devonte, it's okay really this relationship never happened, you're my boss and I'm your PA. I think that's the best option." she said without looking at him, "Mariyah please stay here it's for your own good, you need to be protected from them." he said. "Who?No really who are they and what can they do , that is if they really exist." she was angry and said anything that came to her mind. "Just sleep and I'll explain everything tomorrow." he said obviously irritated because of her unruly behaviour. "Mark my words, I'm leaving this house tomorrow morning and you'll not see me again. Ever again." she said as she finally looked at him. What she saw shocked her, she saw pain, he was very miserable. "You have to listen to me Mariyah, it's for your own good." and he left the room. Ugh! She hated it whenever they fought, especially when he actually got hurt by her words.
