The pirate ship

Hmm where's the sound of the waves coming from. This is a landlocked area if anything there should be a river but it's still far away .

I looked around the camp trying to find something.

McElroy also had heard it and was looking around in the darkness .

The sound of water started intensifying . It seemed like something was approaching the caravan . Beneath the starlight some were visible such as the shadows of the trees and the grass but it still seemed off .

McElroy :

I feel the ground shaking something big is coming towards us .

Jay :

A monster ?

McElroy:

No not a monster something much more fluid and it's approaching fast .

I made a big flame temporarily to illuminate the area and saw something really really bad .

A big tidal wave approaching us . It's a 10 meter tall wave and we have no time to evacuate anyone . They will be swept .

Jay :

McElroy any ideas fast !

McElroy:

I can't freeze the water because it's not static and a wall would be useless against that force.

Jay :

I can't blast the water for the same reason . And I can create a metal wall but it will be too thin to stop it .

I have an idea .

McElroy:

What tell me quick !

Jay :

Instead of stopping the wave just make a ravine

McElroy used all his strength to create a pitfall to break the flow of water and it actually worked . Most of the water fell in the hole and one problem was resolved but another soon arose . As the soldiers started screaming.

We turned around to find the soldiers who were asleep had their throats slit by bandits . Who were fighting with the ones on guard .

Bandits :

Were the surfin bandits we have come here to plunder you .

New quest : Defeat the Surfin bandits.

Difficulty: C

Rewards : None.

They were bandits who looked entirely like pirates and even acted like them . Just that they lacked a ship . Who said pirates can only plunder the sea they are even plundering the land as well.

One of the bandits looked at me in the eye .

He had a hatchet in his hand .

Bandit :

Ay boy , you wearing something expensive to lend it to me to spare your life .

At that time I was wearing the red leather overcoat and a black vest underneath. I mostly wear this everywhere except for the desert . The clothes of a protagonist don't change ever . But I wear this because I don't have anything else to wear .

Every bit of the money I earn is spent on maintenance , food , travel expenses and buying new trinkets that catch McElroy's eyes .

Damn I need new threads soon .

I threw my overcoat at him as it flew and it came in with a little surprise a kapov .

One down more to go . As one fell it attracted the others. As 1 fell i became overconfident that these were some 2 bits thieves . Until a frost shard but between my shoulders. It started bleeding .

Bandit :

There's mor were it came from .

Three large shards arose from his back . And he fired at me. But the shards were no match for me and they melted into vapour .

The bandit became desperate as he stepped back while continuously throwing shards to buy time for reinforcement. Soon a blade came from my back and it broke because it was made of iron .

I just calmly look behind with a smile and test my new toy . I had a slight epiphany.

I had a low grade earth jewel let's see what it can do . I passed some mana through it and found some connectivity with the earth below .

Jay :

If you value your life you will do as I say .

Bandit :

You think you can scare me by breaking mein dear sword .

You are wrong .

Jay :

Suit yourself .

One moment the bandit was on the ground and the next he was in the air sailing with the wind . And a pillar of a perfectly erected cuboid was standing in the bandits place.

The bandit later crashed in the trees below . He was safe and the rest of them weren't so much safe .

After taking care of them Jay went to check on Nora where he found the paladin surrounded by bandits and they attacked together . Flinging their weapons in random directions .

But the paladin only blocked the blow aimed towards his helm while others blew a hole in his Armor. And Nora was nowhere to be seen .

So McElroy backed up the paladin while I headed towards the carriage . I opened the door to find Nora sleeping soundly. I was relieved but I had no time to catch my breath as I closed the carriage and welded it shut .

When dealing with bandits always remove the root cause first . The captain .

The captain or the bandit leader whichever one might prefer . As these bandits lacked a ship their leader should be here somewhere .

The starlight was enough to brighten my surroundings while I passed through the bandits .

And the camp was cleared . I took a breath of relief when suddenly the area around the campfire exploded into bits and pieces . When the dust settles there was just an iron ball and it had gunpowder residue .

These guys have cannons somewhere . Soon from the woods rose a ship . A pirate ship . Adorned with their own pirate flag .The entire ship was floating on the water . More specifically the water was being controlled such that transportation of the vessel was possible even on land .

As instead of people for rowing the boats it housed water magicians who with magic lifted the boat in the air .

It was atleast 509 meters away from us . And started firing at the camp . It fired and one of the shots was being aimed at the carriage .

I tried to stop it because I knew it would shatter in my contact .

Thus I leaked in front of the cannon ball to stop it .

I touched the fast moving cannonball the attack was stopped but at a cost . My hand was bent towards my shoulder .

It was covered in my own blood as at the first few seconds I couldn't realise anything but then I was writhing with pain , wailing .

What I needed were potions quick .

I screamed POTION WHERE ARE THE POTIONS I NEED THEM QUICK.

After hearing my scream McElroy rushed towards me while being assaulted with a barrage of cannonballs .

McElroy saw Jays hand and his state as he was pain . McElroy had no option but to trust his own instinct as he snapped his hand back in place and Jay laid a howl.

While his hand was fixed McElroy removed a piece of cloth and wrapped it around Jays hand .

McElroy:

What the hell were you thinking . Stopping a cannonball with your hand it's insane .

Jay :

Just give me a potion everything will be fine.

McElroy:

I can't give you a potion you have to endure this till it gets healed .

The cannons were getting intense looks like McElroy has to do something now .
