As the morning sun once again dawned on the world. This began a new day for Jay. The day at Wilcoxin Institute starts at 9 am and ends at 4 pm just like most institute.

For when Jay was a normal PhD student his day would began 7 in the morning where he would wake up for deliveries. Of newspapers and delivering milk packets to the subscribers of the company then he would attend the university where he would attend the lectures and if there was free time he would make up for it by sleeping through it.

Without wasting a single minute.

Then he as soon as classes ended he would end up as a waiter and serving dishes until nighttime. Where he would once again return tired, he would check his phone at that time it was an second handed phone this it's quality had taken quite a hit but most things ran fine.

And he would sleep.

During the weekends he would either sleep through the entire weekend or if there were some other plans he would comply. Even during Jay's life he had a decent circle of friends around him. Which he would spend most of his free time.

Jay still wonders what if instead of scrolling g through his phone that day he should had slept through it. Maybe then he would have finally completed his post graduate degree.

And could plan for the future waiting ahead for him.

Huh? What's that, what was Jay pursuing?

Well let's say somewhat of a mixture of medical and pure science degrees. It's a relatively new field of study, and it doesn't give the licence to diagnose any patient.

It also involves a bit of engineering as a recommended option.

But that's all unnecessary because this was the reality he was living or was it a reality, maybe just a very long stretched out dream, Is he in a coma?, maybe this world is the real one and the outer world was just a dream which Jay saw.

But that's a question to ponder at a later date.

As Jay Garrick walked down the halls of the Wilcoxin Institute he heard murmurs as rumors started to swell, those rumors were of a new teacher in the magi-combat department. It was said that he was very good looking some said that he looked like a doll. Some others proclaimed that he was an avatar of God himself descended upon this land.

For those who speak with him would be met with an unquestionable sense of divinity.

There were also rumours around Jay,

Even though he would have lost.

Jay this morning was informed of his schedule.

First he would attend the MagiTech classes, then instrumental techniques of analysis , after that it would be lunch time and finally the rest would be combat classes.

So thus after wandering and asking directions for 15 minutes Jay arrives at a Magi tech lab.

Where as he entered the professor also enters. She entered in a formal suit like attire and on her hand was a watch which extended to her entire arm. It had various functions it was used as protection, for time, running complex calculations, measuring field distance and various other utilities.

Professor :

Quickly be seated.

Professor :

Good morning class, I'm your MagiTech instructor for this semester. My name is Venta Loic. And I have been an instructor in this institute for almost 12 years.

This year there quite a many familiar faces. So start by introducing yourself one by one

And introductions begun one by one. Most of the students were normal but few stood from apart from them.

One was a girl who on her first day bought a gold plated katana inside the class. I heard she is from a big household in the capital.

Next was another muscle addict flexing his muscle in the middle. Not really important.

On the first row there was one who passed with the highest points ever scored on the entrance test.

It seems there was one who came from outside she was from the fallen order of the round table. It seems she was scouted by the Late Duke and was came here.

There is one who gives a very off putting feeling. How should I describe it. It feels like there is nothing inside him.

What was his name again Jay Garrick.

According to rumours he was the first human to be scouted by the Elves. He's also from outside but he seems that he is much more comfortable in the capital.

But the most I have my eye on is the one who has the most rarest affinity after Mistress Maria. The girl who is scouted now for her rarest tested affinity Wind.

As metal magic users are one on ten million wind users are even much rarer so much that we don't have a proper data even on their appearance.

Then there is one more very despicable figure here from outside. He is deemed to be a criminal.

It seems that he slaughtered 3 villages which were Foundation affiliated. Leaving no survivors. He's is serving time in the capital prison but he is admitted here for his talent.

In this class of sixty there are 7 who have caught my eyes.

And I have all data about them thanks to the capital database. Even the criminal. But only Jay Garrick's data is classified. The authorization required to access data only belongs to the secretaries of the Heads and above.

Is he that important figure. Then I should find out his capabilities. This is my role as a teacher after all.

Professor :

Now that introductions are over. Let's begin the class by revising the basics of Magi-Tech.

As you know magic is the phenomenon which is the conversion of an particle-energy into a materialistic form.

Be it Fire, water, earth, lightning, wind. Fuel

Or non Material sic form : Gravity, Light.

While technology is Any useful skill or mechanism that was developed or invented. For simple understanding.

Be it your basic systems like pulling water out of a well or

Be it rhe complex industrial machines that you see today.

And Magi-Tech is a combination of both. New technologies which run on mana instead or traditional energy resources like petrol, diesel, kerosene, Uranium, Polonium as such.

Mana is much more cheaper or non costly and environmentally friendly.

It does not result in the emission of gases passively.

But it is very difficult to manipulate and for something non human to convert mana on usable energy form it requires very complex machinery.

Professor :

This subject is one of the hardest. It will either make your life or break it. Depending on how much how much are you to learn it.

The one who scored the highest raised his hand .

Professor :

Brent was it, what is on your mind.

Brent :

What about the learner can't we use it to learn everything in one go.

Professor :

That's an excellent question Brent. Yes using the learner you could learn this subject you could learn in an instant.

But where you fail Brent is understanding how the learner works.

The Learner is a machine which can make you learn any topic in an instant.

The Learning system sends electrical impulses to your brain and creates memories of you learning the subject but they are short term. They are volatile artifical memories. If you don't relearn them then they just evaporate.

And these are not preferred by any institution because these memories structure your memories in a way which resembles the original learner of the subject.

From which these memories are being taken and being implanted.

These are good for short term solutions but useless for long term.

And when the teaching of complex systems actually begun Jay soon realized that he was going to need the Learner soon enough.

But the feeling of being quickly lost being seen on Jay's entire face as he started sweating on his first day.
