Looming Sadness

The entire palace has been busy since dawn with everyone preparing for the wedding ceremony as well as the coronation of their new King.

While everyone is busy and occupied with things to do, Yuna was the only one who was free and is literally doing nothing.

She thought today would be a happy occasion for her since her most favorite person is finally going to become King and fulfill his destiny to become the greatest King Koryo will ever have.

But not only can she not attend the coronation, but he will also be wedded to someone else that is not her. Someone that will always be by his side from now on and that can stand on the same level as him.

Yuna knows that she shouldn't be jealous of this person nor should she be worried because Joo Won loves her the most. But she just can't get past this feeling that she doesn't deserve all of his attention and love.

Now that Joo Won is King, he definitely needs to produce an heir to continue his bloodline. Not only that, he soon will have more girls that will be given to him as tributes and to build alliances.

So if she would get upset about such a small matter as this, it would definitely trouble Joo Won and make him worry.

Yuna sigh as she continues to swing herself on the self-made swing she did the last few days. Hearing this, her personal attendant, Soo Hye looks at her worryingly.

"What's wrong, your Highness? Why do you look so sad on such a happy day? Do you not like the new title of Noble Consort?"

Yuna sigh again as she hears what Soo Hye had said. Though she should be happy to get such a title but was she deserving of it?

Someone like her, a lowlife with nothing, getting such a high title without doing anything is just not right to her. Regardless of how much she is favored by the Third Prince, it just doesn't settle well with her.

Even someone like her knows that to get the title of Noble Consort, one has to give birth to an heir for the King before the title is granted to them.

And even if she were to give birth an heir for the King, never once has a commoner and lowlife like her were granted the highest title of Noble Consort.

The highest title a commoner was granted was a Third rank Consort which was given by the current King Moon to the Ninth Prince's mother.

So for her to be granted this title just because the Third Prince adores her and gifted it as an apology for breaking his promise, is something that Yuna cannot accept.

What would people say if she just happily accepted the title and flaunt her powers around? Though she doesn't care what people say about her, she doesn't like it if people were to talk badly about Prince Joo Won.

"Your Highness... Do you really not want to see His Highness coronation? I could try to get you some eunuch clothes for you to disguise yourself and sneak out."

Yuna perked up at Soo Hye's idea. She thinks carefully for a minute before shaking her head.

"His Highness has gone through so much trouble to grant me this title. What would people say if they caught me dressing as a eunuch and sneaking out? I don't want to trouble Joo Won more than I already have."

"I think I will just take a nap. I don't feel quite well. Wake me up once everything is over or if there is an emergency." Yuna said as she stops swinging herself and walk back to her chamber.

Soo Hye looks at her mistress worryingly, with a pained heart. She had never seen her in that kind of state before.

It was obvious that the marriage of Prince Joo Won was getting to Yuna more than she wanted to admit.

Honestly, she just wishes that she could do something to make Yuna feel better. Even a small smile was enough.

At least that would mean that Yuna felt some happiness today and not just sad because she was the one person that most deserves to be happy.

She still remembers meeting Yuna for the first time thirteen years ago. She was only eight and just recently entered the palace when she was suddenly thrown to Yuna's quarter to serve her.

At that time, nobody wanted to serve Yuna because she was a lowborn. So even if she was Prince Joo Won's wife, they found her of no importance and didn't wish to serve under her.

Of course, Soo Hye was confused when that happens. She never serves anybody before and doesn't know a thing about how the palace works. So she already made herself ready to receive a lot of punishment.

But to her surprise, Yuna never scolded her nor punish her for any mistake that she made. Instead, she was nice to her and help her to clean her mess when she made a mistake.

For that, Soo Hye is forever grateful towards Yuna and vows to serve her loyally till her death.

She also vowed that she would try her best to make Yuna happy and not encounter any hardships or sadness while being in the palace.

And for the last thirteen years, she did just that and there was not one day that Soo Hye never saw a smile on Yuna's face. That was until today.

To her, it felt like the thirteen years of effort she did to keep the promise that she made was gone in mere seconds.

Just what can she do to make Yuna smile again like before? She feels like she can already picture how Yuna would look like starting from that day.

If only she can just get rid of the woman that's marrying Prince Joo Won. Maybe then can her mistress be happy.
