Oreburgh City
That night
Sky was sitting in the Pokemon Center's trainer park. He was eating lots of spicy French fries. The fries comes with four different sauces and each of the sauces were amazing. The soft and melting suaces that had a tinge of different flavours combined with the crispy outer skin of French fries to the unbelievably mushy soft flesh. It was Heaven in earth for him.
He liked the French fries in here a lot. It is really tasty and nutritious to add to the amazingness. It is simply divine.
Riolu was looking at him from the window of her treatment room. She had been treated already. She immediately rushed to the place where he is sitting and tackled him to the ground. She started beating him with her paws.
She was in the treatment room injured and this beast dared to eat delicious food without her! Unforgivable!
Sky caught the Riolu with one hand. He went to the park bench and took out the jumbo Apple pie that was bigger than 5 Apple pies combined. It had more toppings and the honey glaze was tripled.
Her eyes were shining while looking at it.
"I have the habit of eating whenever my emotions are not in control little one. So please forgive me for this kind of things. I am just too happy for our win. Here is a prize for you. Do you want it or not."
Sky said to Riolu while moving the pie from her.
"Riooooluuu"
Her voice was filled with desperation. She felt like her soul left her body with the Apple pie.
She immediately stopped his hand from taking the Pie away. Her grip was really strong.
"I was just joking, little one. Have you ever seen me eating Apple pies. Here have it and make sure to behave properly next time."
Sky said to her in a stern manner.
"Rio"
She nodded.
'What a good child.'
"So we are going to wait here for one more day to get you perfectly in shape and then we will leave the Oreburgh city the day after tomorrow. Tomorrow we will sightsee and celebrate our victory with a day off. Of course you have to run in the morning but that's all. Understood?"
Riolu nodded her head. She would regret this tomorrow. She really will. For now she was stuffing her food like someone would steal it from her.
'Why does she like Apples so much anyway?'
The night was quiet.
Sky and Riolu went to sleep in their respective places. They both had some tough things to handle in the past week.
Sky or should we say, Jerome, was able to remember all the things and he was still trying to cope with it. He was ashamed of what he did and he will do anything to atone for it.
Whereas Riolu was unable to help Sky many times during the past week. Be it the Rocket incident or Darkrai or him just drowning in the small lake. She felt weak. She trained really hard and the strength she had now was mainly due to her hardwork. She was exhilarated when she knew that he won the battle! That they won the battle! She was really happy.
Her previous goal of revenge was going to have a rival now. She wanted to go on an adventure with him. Sky felt like her mother to her. She wanted to live with him from now on.
She slept peacefully after this exhausting week. She trained to her limits and she won due to it. It made some of her inferiority complex crumble to pieces.
She was beginning to attain self confidence. Her act of tackling Sky was a proof of it. Normally she seldom acted in front of him except during eating. She was scared of him, of his strength and of his ruthlessness. She can sense it and that made it hard for her to get along with Sky.
Yet she was changing. She was slowly considering him to be her equal. She was not that weak anymore. She was strong. She was worthy of her courage now.
The next day
A man and his Riolu could be seen running on the park. The man had a smile on his face while the Riolu was in despair.
"You agreed to do this. Remember last night."
The Riolu wanted to Superman punch her past self. Why did she have to agree to his proposal? Could she not have thought twice before answering. She was exhausted. She was beyond exhausted! They had been running for the past six hours and they ran more than 500 kilometres. They still had 20 kilometres remaining to reach 600 kilometres.
The man was fine. Some beads of sweat could be seen on his face but that's all. He was not panting and his breath was at a steady pace.
"You have just this one weakness and that is, you lack defence. The only way you can fill this gap is either by making your body tougher or increasing your speed."
"If you have tough physical body then you could take more hits and be able to last longer. This has one shortcoming. You are an Physical attacker Pokemon. You need strength and speed to attack and evade yuor enemies. This would make you slow and hence destroying the purpose of your species."
"If you are fast then you can easily evade attacks hence you won't need that much defence to begin with. Secondly, speed increases the power of your attacks. You must have felt it yourself in the last battle. Now onto the benefits of speed: you can use it for harassing stronger Pokemon, escaping from attacks, making your attacks stronger and for fleeing from a tough situation. So it's a win win for you.
"Rio, rio rio lu riolu"
"Hmm, good so you are saying we should increase the toughness of the training. Let's do it from tomorrow."
"Rioluuuuu"
"Just joking, just joking. This is our regular training. I would only increase it once you become a Lucario. Now off we go. We still need to finish the next 10 kilometres."
"Rio"
Riolu also gave a depressed grunt.
They both continued to run.
Ten minutes later.
"Riooo rio rio lu lu riolu riolu rio luu"
Shouted Riolu to the sky. Not the person but the blue skies. She was finally able to do it. Most of the times she dropped before completing it or took a lot of time to do so. Only now was she able to run that much.
Sky was also sitting with her. He was drinking water. His shirt was soaked die to him splashing water on himself and his figure were showing. This alone was causing him a lot of mean looks from the men in the park.
"Let's go. Want me to carry you or pokeball."
Riolu chose pokeball. Not because she was ashamed of him carrying her but because of the way he carried her. He carried her like a sack of rice on his shoulder. It was so embarrassing for her that she nearly fainted from the looks of all those Pokemons.
