Ready for odd jobs

Oreburgh City

Pokemon Center

The same day. Morning.

It was 6 am and Sky was bathing once again. He got up a few minutes ago and was washing up. He went to the cafeteria and it was still not open.

He went to the Nurse Joy to tease her. He was bored and he wanted to check if she had something that he can help her with.

He respected people like her a lot. It was not easy to serve some mute beings who had expressions and desires that were the same as all humans. Gloomy Forest must have loved them a lot.

"Hi, Nurse Joy. Do you need anything that I can help with. I am free now and I also need to divert my mind to something else."

Sky said to the Nurse Joy that was at the counter.

"Ohh, well you can move the boxes from the first floor to second floor then."

Nurse Joy remembered Sky as the trainer from last night. She thought he was trying to hit on her.

"Ok, You can tell me if you have any other work."

Sky went to the room where Nurse Joy told him to. He lifted a box easily and then lifted two more and went to deliver it on the second floor. It was not even 150 kilograms.

He could lift that much with just a finger. In just a few minutes, he was able to move the stuff from the first to the second floor store room.

He went to the Nurse Joy to ask if she had something else that required his help.

"I am done Nurse Joy. Do you have something else that I can help you with?"

"Eh, you are joking right! How can you do that so fast, did you use your Pokemons?"

Nurse Joy said in confusion.

"I have done this kind of work a lot in the Jubilife City. I have experience in it. I wanted to ask what was in the last box, it was really light."

Sky asked. He was a little curious about the contents of the last box. It was light and felt like layered crepes. The sound of it that is. The other things sounded different.

"Oh, those are the undies of Nurse Joy. We are provided a set from our families, during hot weather we sweat a lot and most of us don't get the chance to change into a new one so our family made a new undies that can absorb liquid highe-... "

Nurse Joy stopped at that. Her face red. She was shocked by his feat that she forgot about what was it that she was explaining and explained it to him as a habit of her job.

"I didn't hear anything. I really didn't. Trust me."

Sky's words broke the last straw.

The awkward moment continued for a few minutes. Sky was still standing there incase she really had a job she needed his help with while Nurse Joy was not able to look at his eyes.

Five more minutes later.

"Nurse Joy do you have anything that you may need my help with. Here have some water. Having liquid is good for good skin."

Sky said. He realised a moment too late that he said something wrong.

"Sorry, I need to go."

Sky said and started walking.

"Wait, we do have work, a lot of it. You can also gain some side money for it. Will you do it?"

Nurse Joy asked. She put her personal feelings aside and acted like a Nurse Joy.

Three hours later.

Sky did more than 28 jobs that were available in the Pokemon Center and he refused to take the money. He never did the job for them to begin with.

All the Pokemon Center staff looked at him in new light. The jobs he did were something most of the trainers didn't help with. Most of the jobs were easy and anyone with free time could do it but the sheer quantity of job was something that most of the trainers didn't like.

Like moving large quantities of stuff or delivering letters to different families that their Pokemons are fine and they can pick them up or delivering Pokemons to the families when they are not able to come and get it or to deliver some things.

This was because trainers were not the only people who had Pokemon. Due to the benefits and usability of Pokemons most of the families atleast have one or two Pokemons.

Pokemons could help in various things be it helping in lifting heavy stuff, guarding the house, protecting their children etc. Specific Pokemons like Grass types were used by florists and garden lovers, Fire types were used by Blacksmiths, Metal workers and Cooks.

Ice type were used in storage facilities and harbours. So were the Water types. Ground types in the power plant, they were used to protect the workers in times of electrical malfunctioning. There were many types of Pokemons that were raised by normal families depending on their circumstances.

Unlike the trainers, most of the families were not provided subsidies by the Pokemon Center. They have to pay for their Pokemons treatment. Most of the Pokemons sent by the families were those that had serious ailments and needed immediate treatment from a professional like them.

Pokemon Center sent letters to this families only when the news was sad. This was because most of the employees were not able to face the people whom have given their Pokemons to them for treatment. This was the main reason why most of the trainers didn't pick those jobs.

Hence it was also named as the desperate jobs which only desperate trainers would choose.

Sky did them. He did lots of jobs and he was able to learn about this world far more from these. This was not a kid's anime. People here have lives too. All of them were living. All of them being happy, sad, or just hopeless but they were living, breathing things. He can't just take them as joke or just random characters.

So were the Pokemons. He was going to destroy a part of the Eterna Forest to cause the clash between Team Rocket and Team Galactic.

He felt bad now. What was the difference between him and them then.

He was killing and destroying Pokemons. They too were doing the same. There was no difference.

"Will I be a good trainer?"

'Or am I just like those humans that we killed. Drunk in power.'

'Do I even have the right to say that I can be a trainer. '

"I just need to find out in my journey of repentance then."

Sky went to the Pokemon Center.

"You have a call Mr. Sky."

A Pokemon Center employee informed Sky.

"Ok. Thanks."

Sky went to his room. He closed the door and went to the PC and took the call.

It was from Looker.

"Hello, what happened!"

Sky exclaimed after seeing the face of Looker. It was swollen.

"You have a really vicious Riolu. She immediately attacked me when she didn't find you anywhere. I recalled her back before she started breaking precious stuff."

Looker replied helplessly. Sky told him to feed Riolu on time so Looker released Riolu to give her food but she attacked him the moment she didn't find Sky.

His Croagunk helped him to restrain her before he recalled her back in her Pokeball.

"Well, she is usually well behaved with me though. She must have gotten scared by the new environment. She is still a child."

Sky said to Looker. His tone as if he was natural and saying the truth.

"She must like you a lot. So I called you to inform about the infiltration on the Team Galactic base..... "
