Finishing The Mission

His words were met with strange silence from the others around. Aizo was with a group of other four male fallens.

Aroon knew them all. Only one had a super power of igniting fire and controlling it with his right arm. As for the other two they had speed ability, just like Cheryl.

"Thanks for… honoring your duties," Aizo had to sit over one damaged car.

"What happened?" Aroon took out a pizza and gave a slice to him. The pizza was now cold but everything right now looked so delicious to Aizo and his men.

"We… were led by Mark," Aizo slowly said while his face showed how deeply conflicted he was. "He wanted to go and look for that rumored mecha."

"To bring him here and fight me," Aroon casually said as if he wasn't afraid of that mecha.

For him, this matter looked hilarious every time he thought about it.

"I and my friends here didn't like that," Aizo slowly said, "we met many people in need of our help. But…"

"I got it," Aroon said when he noticed the distress over his face. "Rest for now and when you regain your power, come to help."

Aroon moved heading towards the next block.

"What are you going to do?" Aizo suddenly shouted.

"I'm going to continue saving people," Aroon didn't even look back at him, "while we rest, some will die."

Aizo didn't mean that but the words of Aroon totally silenced him.

"Don't worry," Arora said as she started to move after him, "he won't fight Mark."

The look of relief appeared over Aizo who softly muttered, "We shouldn't even fight between each other in the first place."

The girls moved after Aroon with the other four guys and the mission to rescue people continued.

After ten more hours and extensive work with everyone, Aroon managed to help those who were trapped. The town looked desolate at this hour of the night.

All the people who stayed behind to help returned to the camp. That turned the entire town to look like a true town after a big war.

"Let's go back," Aroon turned around, "there is nothing else to do here."

"What about… Mark?" Aizo got to know Aroon better during this time. For him Aroon wasn't that talkative kind of a man. He always moved to act and didn't waste much time on anything else.

"What about him?" Aroon asked while gazing at the empty world outside the ruins of the town.

Aizo didn't speak again as he feared that would instigate more trouble. As for Aroon, he moved as a real leader among the others, returning to the central camp without saying more words.

"Welcome back."

As the group reached the camp, they were welcomed with a grand scene they never expected. The entire camp was lit up and everywhere people stood and clapped in salute for the return of their true heroes.

And the captain led the ex-soldiers to salute them with an old military salute.

"Stay sharp," Aroon said while nodding to the captain, "who knows what night might bring off wild animals."

"What about monsters?" the captain asked with some worry in his tone.

Aroon wanted to say there would be none but he figured this would look suspicious. "If you saw anything, just make sure to send someone to tent zero," Aroon patted on his shoulder before walking inside the masses.

Hearing the applause, the respected shouts of their names, and even some kids running to hug them was a very strange moment for him.

He lived his entire life inside this town as an exiled person. However right now he was walking amidst everyone like a true hero.

the system said when he finally entered his room with the excuse to rest.

"I don't look to impress them old man," Aroon threw his body over the bed while taking out the hot pizza he got from down below. "I just want to get stronger and be able to protect myself…"

His tone was down as he recalled his brothers and their death. He evaded this moment by starting eating, and he ate that pizza so fast.

"Still need a bit more to level up," Aroon put the empty pizza box to the side of his bed before resting his body.

"How so?" Aroon said with interest.

the system said,

"That's good," Aroon said before his smile faded away, "still I'm at the lowest grade. Couldn't you let me start over from a much higher place?"

"I lived the entire year feeling that!"

"Yeah, useless speech suiting an old man like you," Aroon knew he wouldn't get anything from his system. "I'll sleep now, please wake me up early in the morning."

"Tsk," Aroon grabbed the small clock on the table beside his bed and set the alarm to wake him up at eight A.M.

Then he closed his eyes and slept, hoping that no one would bother to wake him up that night.
