After the Break

At lunch, Tyler and Calem’s friends talk about their spring break. It’s hard for him to focus in class as he tries to get his mind off of the day he was being watched at the water park.

As Tyler stares at the clouds coming in with drenching rain, his math and homeroom teacher, Mrs. Daniella, stands by Tyler’s desk to get his attention. “Tyler, is everything okay?” she asks.

Tyler faces forward to Mrs. Daniella. “I’m sorry, what?” he asks her.

“Are you okay?” Mrs. Daniella asks.

Tyler fidgets with his pen and rubs it on the paper. “Yeah, everything’s great,” he says.

“Okay,” Mrs. Daniella says. She walks back to the board and picks up the textbook. “Okay, let’s finish up chapter twelve in our math books.” Tyler opens his algebra book and listens to Mrs. Daniella while taking notes. Soon the bell rings, and the students get up to leave class.
