Chapter Fifteen:The Bigger reveal

The others camped outside, eventually coming to my front door, knocking.

I was almost tempted not to let any one of them in, peeking out the peephole. I opened the door, fully clothed this time, a distasteful look on my face.

"What do you want?" I propped myself up against the wall, feeling Sweeney's breath on my ear as he walked up from behind. "We come in peace; the car is cramped." Bilquis visibly cringed as they all piled up at the front door. I chuckled, rolling my eyes, opening the door to let them in.

"This is going to be interesting." Lugh, cut his eyes at me, locking the door.

"Tell me about it."

-

We all huddled up in the living room in a defining awkward silence; my lips pressed into a thin line, Nancy grinning from ear to ear as if there was a joke I had missed.

Sweeney came in with a beer, plopping his big body down right next to mine, pulling me into his lap.

"The earth and the moon... Fascinating. Haven't seen anything like this ever." Shadow spoke, looking around the room, out of place and uncomfortable with the tension in the room.

Bilquis, however, watched me with her chin resting on her hands, a curious sparkle in her eyes.

"I'm guessing you're new to the whole God shabang?" I looked over to Shadow, tilting my head, my hair falling in waves over my shoulder. He stared at me a moment, gently rubbing his chin. " I guess you could say I'm the first human they let in. " he shrugged, glancing up at Lugh before looking back at me.

"What's the story between you two?" I could tell he was genuinely curious about how I came to be; I was still, however, learning that myself. "I'm learning just as you are....but apparently, I'm born of something impossible." I rolled my eyes hearing, Silver tongue sigh.

" I would like to get some rest. Are there any rooms?" Wednesday looked around, taking off his trench coat. I gave him the biggest smile I could muster. Lugh rested his cheek on top of my head, twirling my wild mane around his fingers. "Two in the guest room and the rest in the living room." I rose out of Sweeney's lap, grabbing his hand, practically dragging him off the couch.

"Would you like to join me in the shower, Lugh?"

"Ya even have to ask, lass?" He was impatient and decided to pick me up and walk the rest of the way.

-

This was the first time I willingly let him stay in my room. The moon was half full tonight, so I got a pretty good look at his peaceful face as he slept next to me. In all my time with him, I could see that a weight had lifted off of him; he seemed peaceful even with the shit show going on in the background.

*I'm really about to go on a road trip with this duck fucker!*

I had no idea why I even gave the idea a thought, but I knew one thing, if he said anything out of turn, I was going to slit his throat.

"Lass?" A groggy whisper and a pair of dimly illuminated gold eyes peered up at me through sleep. I turned my attention to him, reaching over to run my fingers through his facial hair. His hand grasped mine, and he kissed my palms, yawning. "What's troubling ya?" He sat up a bit, proper up on his elbow, blinking sleep from his eyes.

I looked away, contemplating whether or not I should tell him. "I'm debating whether or not I should kill, silver-tongue." I watched as his brows furrowed under the moonlight, a frown deeply set on his lips.

"Any other time, that would be a good idea..." He had a distasteful look in his eyes as he scratched his chin. "though, I feel like events are unfolding because ya have to eventually...."

When he put it that way, it made more sense; in fact, it was crystal clear. I was the only one strong enough to challenge him to death. I think he knew that, whether he was egging the process to go faster or if he wanted me for other disturbing plans; either way, he was going to fucking die.

From what I remember thus far, my mother never showed herself to me before. Part of me felt like she was warning me, preparing me for something that would happen soon.

"I'm the only one who can." I moved over and laid my head over his heart, feeling his arm wrap around my shoulder, his lips brushing my forehead.

"Don't do anythin' stupid. Please, lass, ya just returned to me." He whispered almost brokenly, which made my throat close a bit.

"I promise, Lugh, I'm not going anywhere."
