Chapter Twenty-One: Born of two

After finding a decent place within the woods to build a shelter, we spent months carving at the ground, taking down wood to make us a home.

We both were affiliated with nature, which meant that, in turn, we grew in strength. Also, during that time, I studied all that I could about my mother and father. I thought everything else was a mind fuck; I was utterly wrong in so many ways.

Not only did I have to study my parents but also the old gods of the world, those who passed on, and those who were new coming into being. My knowledge also came with me learning my powers and string thing them, gaining control. I didn't want to kill anyone else accidentally, Lugh was here, and I'd be damned if he was my next body I had to burn.

"So the new gods want to overthrow the old?" I looked over at Lugh, watching him bring the ax down, splitting the wood in two. "Aye, rather they're at war with Wednesday." Soon as silver tongue's name left his mouth, I snarled, an inhuman sound rising my throat and out into the open space.

"Fucking ridiculous! Does he ruin everything he touches?!" I threw a piece of wood; unfortunately, it flew right into Lugh's back, a strangled cry escaping him.

He suddenly turned on me, bristling and starting, the veins in his neck pulsing wildly.

"C'MERE!" He bellowed, taking off towards me, my eyes widened, and I dropped everything and ran.

"Bar-Brawler, I didn't mean to!" I laughed as I leaped over a pile of wood. With a flip, I dodged him by a hair, his fingers brushing against my nose. As if time slowed down, our eyes met, and he jumped at me missing again. I watched his expression change from its wild angered feral one to a giddy excited expression as he tried again to catch me.

" Gotta be quicker than that." I giggled, taking off again, hearing him behind me. When he had finally caught up, he grabbed my wrist, which caused me to push him away. We faced each other, both grinning from ear to ear to see who would move first.

"I'll win this one. I owe ya from the bar." He winked at me before throwing his fist in my direction, which I dodged. We sparred like that for a long while before I stepped away exhausted. "Ya certainly got faster. " he looked over at me as he stretched, rolling his neck around, walking in my direction.

"Did you expect me to be slow?" I questioned him, turning around and walking backward, my hand on my chest; I was genuinely applauded at the situation; he really thought I was going to let him catch me. "Don't sass me." He growled, gaining on me, his signature crazy grin on fill blown, his arms crossed over his chest.

I stopped for a moment, my eyes wondering his entire masculine form, grabbing one of my curly red locks. I twirled it around my fingers, staring into his green-gold eyes, not bothering to gid my want. "You know... When this ends... I want to know what it's like to be a mother. I damn sure am not going to do what was done to me..." I looked away, sighing softly, momentarily looking into our future.

"Lass..." His voice was unusually soft, unusually emotional; when I looked up, Lugh's eyes were wide and swimming. He had the warmest smile on his face, a tear managing to escape their ducts.

" Ya mean it?" He only had to take a step and j was in his steel grip, his lips on my forehead. "I mean every word." My eyes found his golden ones, his arms construction around and lifting me up, my lips devouring his.

"What better time, then now."
