Leaving The Village

"Vampires' lives are not as bad as your mothers say they are, they are talented and strong, their appearance is also much better than other humans, I don't know how many people want to be like them." Charlie who was driving the horse carriage started talking as they started to move away from their village.

"As humans, your talents will probably be mediocre, it's very difficult for you to advance any further!"

"..."

"Dad, how many vampires are there in this world?" Arthur then asked.

"Ehmmm..." Charlie cleared his throat. "As for their number I don't know, but they're not too many either, they're as rare as dragons." "Vampires have a very hard time having children, only fate can make them have children. Like the two of you, you can even think of yourselves as miracles."

"So most vampires must be very old right? I really want to know where they are."

"Vampires live apart, most of them always on the move. However, they can feel each other's presence if they are close to each other."

"What about in this republic, are there any other vampires besides mon?"

"Hahahaha," he suddenly laughed. "It is possible. For sure, sooner or later you will meet them even if you are not a vampire yet!"

Charlie kept on talking about how great vampires were that Arthur's heart became even more shaky.

However, along the way, Bella did not say a word.

Arthur even began to wonder if she had been hit by a mental attack.

...

Some time later, they finally arrived at the train station.

There Arthur saw a long steam train. On earth, such trains could only be found in movies and museums. Arthur thought what would happen if he later made a fast train like in China and Japan.

Of course, if he wanted to build such a train, who knew how much material he would need.

The train comes once every half month to the area. It was usually used to transport military supplies. In addition, it also sent several new soldiers to the border area and brought back soldiers who had vacation rations. Of course, it also brought the villagers who wanted to go to the city.

When they got there, Arthur saw at least two hundred more villagers. Half of them had just come from the city while the other half were people about to leave for the city.

After the carriage stopped, Arthur immediately got off the carriage. He carried several bags that held his and Bella's clothes. Even though each of them had a storage ring, they only used them to store important items.

Like his father's savings, Arthur kept it in his storage ring. In fact, he even carried a firearm complete with ammunition.

Firearms in the world still can't compare to firearms on earth, but when he gets the formula for making firearms later, Arthur plans to make more sophisticated firearms.

Since it took time to make a shot, firearms in this world were somewhat underestimated by the already very strong knights. But if they encountered a firearm that could spit out dozens of bullets in a second, even the great knight might have to try hard to save themselves.

Bella got off the carriage not long after. She looked up at the sky and sighed before walking over to Arthur.

The two then followed their father who was heading to the station building.

He had previously said that his friend would help them take care of their business when they arrived in town. Now he was clearly looking for his friend.

Even though they left this time to move to the town, he chose not to follow them because he wanted them to quickly adapt to the outside environment. It's also not unusual, in this world, there are many children around 15 years old who go alone. Compared to them, Arthur could be said to be a homebody.

"Hey, Charlie," someone suddenly called out his father's name.

Arthur then looked in the direction of the voice. There he saw a man in a white uniform and a hat and cigar in his mouth.

Even though the man's uniform was quite messy, he still recognized that it was the train driver's uniform.

"Johnny!" Charlie greeted back when he saw him, he then walked over to him.

Johnny stared at Charlie for a moment before looking at Arthur and Bella. "So they're your son and daughter, hahahaha, you really have good kids." He nodded his head as he looked at Arthur and Bella.

"Yeah, they're all grown up, it's time for them to see the wider world."

"I'm sure they will have their own stage in the future."

"Hahahaha, that's for sure. Please take care of them!"

He then looked at Arthur and Bella; "You two get into the train first, I want to chat with John!" He said.

Bella seemed uncomfortable meeting A stranger, so Arthur nodded. He then pulled Bella's hand towards the train.

Bella was still gloomy, she didn't even fight back when Arthur pulled her hand away.

Of course, they weren't the only ones who got in first, the other civilian passengers also started to enter the train.

The railway system at the border is so bad, there are not even tickets. Each door in the train carriage was guarded by a guard, and each passenger only had to pay to those guards.

Once inside, the passengers have to fight over seats if they want to get a good seat.

Luckily Arthur and Bella got into the train early so they could choose seats that were still good.

After sitting down, Arthur couldn't help but stare at his father and Johnny, the two men were chatting excitedly. He didn't know what they were talking about, but he wondered if Johnny was a hidden expert too. Only, he didn't feel any particular pressure from the man.

Click...

A clicking sound was heard as a bright white light entered his and Bella's eyes.

His expression became bad. He was staring outside, so he didn't notice someone suddenly taking a picture of the two of them.

In that world, taking pictures of other people was not an immodest act, some people might feel happy if they were photographed. After all, cameras are so rare and expensive, who doesn't want to have photos for free.

But as someone who hails from the earth of the 21st century, he couldn't help but think of it as disrespectful.

He and Bella then looked at the person who took their picture. He was slightly surprised when he saw that person.

It was a young man with a tall and somewhat skinny build. He was holding a steam engine era camera.

The young man was very handsome with a white vest and a round hat that covered his blond hair. Her blue eyes shone with a romantic light. He was even more handsome than Arthur.

Of course, Arthur knew he wasn't a resident of the frontier area, however, a man who looked so conspicuous couldn't possibly go unrecognized if he lived in the area.

But Arthur thought that even in a city it might not be easy to find such a man.

A paper with a picture then came out of the man's camera. That's of course their picture. The man stared at the picture for a while before looking at them with a friendly smile.

He then walked over to them.

As he arrived in front of them, he reached out to Arthur.

"Lancelot!" He said.
