Jane awoke in a pale white room. A computer was off to her right. A television hung on the wall just above her feet. Her arm held an iv and the medical tape that pinched at her. She adjusted her arm slightly and fell back into her cove she had carved in the bed. Her legs felt hot and tingly but she could move them around with great effort.
Jane caught the sight oh her mother asleep in a very uncomfortable chair. Her mom was the best. Jane's stomach hurt and she noticed the stitches. Oh, she thought that makes more since on why she was here. Her stomach growled and Jane agreed.
A nurse waked into the room, not a moment too soon. A thousands questions where going through her head.
"How are we feeling" a chubby and pleasant lady greeted Jane.
"Ok, i guess, i think i am alive." Jane responded. "Can i ask what happened" Jane had no memory of the time leading up to this situation.
The lady smiled and said " of corse" it isn't uncommon for people to wake up from surgery a little disoriented. " you had a ruptured appendix. we had to get all that yucky abscess out of there. Some of it got into your bloodstream so, it is going to be a few days till you can go home ok" she smiled again as she went on typing on her computer. She switched out her IV bag when Jane's stomach interrupted them.
" I will let the doctor know you are awake and hungry" Jane was glad she didn't have to ask. She was starving. "In the mean time i will bring you some water to sip on" Jane nodded and laid her head back on her pillow.
Moments later the nurse was on her way to the her next assignment. She exited the room leaving a television remote in Jane's hands. Jane laid there breathing. Jane thought to herself, I come home and end up in the hospital. What a great break this has turned out to be. Maybe i should be grateful it happened here and not at college. Maybe this will scare my parents and i will be able to stay at campus for my next school break. She silently chuckled to herself.
Hope woke from her discombobulated position on the chair. She noticed that Jane was awake and relief spread throughout her body. "Hi sweetie you feeling any better"
Jane had no comparison to what she was feeling but it was safe to say it was probably worse. "I think so" was what she decided to share.
Good you had me scared. We where shopping and having a great time and you dropped to the floor complaining of a stomach ache. I brought you to the instant care and they sent you straight here. You passes out in the ambulance ride over here. I was so worried they said you had appendixes. Then you got really bad the doctor said it must have leaked and gotten into your bloodstream because you got really really sick. You scared me!
Jane had no memory of any of this. In fact the last thing she could remember was getting into a car with Lue. Shopping she must have been coned into it. Well at least a little probably with the promise of dinner at the end of the day. Did i get anything cute. Jane asked with a slight smile.
Well you know how you are honey, your more interested in dinner then shopping. But you did get a few small things. You got a new soft blue sweater probably to replace the one you got coffee on.
Jane figured she must have told her about the plane trip. She was definitely coned into revealing her secrets. Your not going to tell dad about Him are you. She wanted to see how much she had blurted out.
Oh you mean that handsome guy. Ann really had no idea who Jane was talking about, but she was about too.
I only sat by him on the plane. I just don't want you making more about this then what is there. I will probably never see him again.
She fell for Troy, again, in only a few hours time. Ann just nodded her head and tried to not laugh. Those two seemed to be able to find each other no mater what. She had grounded her many times from playing with those boys. Yet they found a way to see each other anyways. When she healed him Troy and forgot those two. Ann thought that maybe she would find someone else.
Mom don't laugh you know how dad is. Books before boys, I know my three b's. So don't make this a big deal. She had over done it and Jane regretted it. She layer her head on her pillow and just groaned as she covered her face with a spare pillow. Hidden her flushed cheeks even the thought of him did things to her.
Ann sat there looking at her daughter. Her amazing daughter. Who always seamed to know how to get herself in these kinds of situations. She was ever grateful to her being the reason she became her best self possible. She made her a mother a cured her from endometriosis. Ann was a mother long before she became one and Jane gave her the dream back. Some might say she is nothing more then a homemaker, but Ann was in perfect bliss.
