Progress

As Jane slept, she dreamt of the creek again. The wind softly brushed her cheek. A face of a boy, sitting next to her slowly faded into view, like putting on a pair of prescription glasses. The seen was so perfect, she could sit here all day. Their shoulders touched as they sat on a small towel, just barely big enough to keep both of their pants clean. Going home with a dirty pair of pants was only going to upset their mothers.

He carried pure calmness inside him, it continued and to spread to her. She hadn't felt that way in such a long time. In fact she didn't even notice that the tiny disturbance was inside her. Until recently, she felt the sea became placid, for a short while before it walked away. It walked away before she knew what it was. This confused her, and the more she pushed it away, the more it beckoned to her.

It was a perfect summer day, the wind was filled with the chirps and hums of nature. He was looking at her, his cheek showed signs of a small smile. His eyes where soft they seamed to call her attention. She looked at him, and he looked at her. She kept his view for a minute, untill she felt the attention to be too much. When she finally gave into his view they slowly drifted toward each other. Before her brain knew what happened, her heart pattered in pure excitement. He kissed her softly, the feeling of his lips still left the imprint when she awoke.

Ever since Jane arrived in the hospital, she dreaded everything. Her dreams haunted her, making her restless, only to crave it more. Using to the bathroom was a complete chore and eating was torcher. Pudding had no longer became a treat. She wanted to sleep and be left alone. Yet every few hours a new guest arrived to bring joy or a task. It was not very fun being on the other end of the room.

Not everyone was able to read a room. This was a talent her mother taught her. She commonly would glance into a room before barging in. This wasn't reciprocated and she was in a different hospital. So a simple requests fell on deaf ears. She had to remind herself that they where just doing their jobs.

Today you get to go home. A bright a chipper nurse declared. This was music to her ears. She was her favorite nurse. She was the only spot of solitude she got during the day. She made early mornings bearable. Jane could spend all day with her yet more then half of the time She was normally sleeping. It made the mid morning switch kind of bitter. Luckily normally her mother or father would arrive for at least a few hours.

Jane had been in the hospital for five days now. She was ready for her old room and the company of family. Hope her mother, was a nurse at one time. Jane felt she could have gone home earlier in her opinion. She was tired and ready for a good plate of her mom's cooking. Those garden vegetables where starting to sound rather tasty. Even though normally they where not the first thing on her plate she would eat. In comparison to the food she had been eating, they where mouth watering.

Jane had gained strength in her legs and she could walk with little discomfort. Her stomach and her lower back had started to heal but any sharp movements still caused her discomfort. This was expected to continue for a couple more weeks. Her nurse told her she was doing better then expected. Despite the discomfort she was excited and went through the day with a smile on her face.

Jane messaged Lue the good news. She was excited to see her friend for the second time since her visit. Jane decided to extend her schooling another semester. She took only a couple corses online till she could get back to her dorm. She was lucky that it was between semesters other wise she would have had to hobble around the school. Something about home, seamed to slow her down this time. Jane wanted to take it easy. It might be the stitches talking or her sister getting married. Either way she was nostalgic.

Since her parents couldn't spend five days in the hospital with her Jane had spent the a few hours a day with her parents. They had restrictions on how many visitors could come into the hospital, and how long they could stay. Since Jane wasn't a minor anymore she remained alone for a good period of time. Since she was allowed so few visitors, she spent most of the day watching shows and trying to get some rest.

The nurse came into the room holding a dining tray. Your final meal my lady, she had an accident and Jane had enjoyed it immensely so. She also enjoyed her little puns she would spit out. She placed it down before her and scanned her tags. It felt weird to have a bracelet on each arm. She normally didn't give her other bracelet a fraction of the attention as she did this itchy band irritating her.

Jane hadn't given her bracelet a second thought in all the time she spent in the hospital. No one mentioned it either it was almost as if it wasn't there at all. This sparked her though pattern and she immediately gave it attention. She oddly felt a since of panic that it might have been lost. That maybe it had to be cut off, maybe the hospital would have had the tool.

Her bracelet had been with her for many years. She panicked feeling fear of a great loss. Like a friend who had been ignored during a party, she looked down at her old friend thankful to have it by her side. Jane noticed it felt heavier then before, she shrugged it off, she was still week. The colors seamed to have faded and barely showed. Oddly it looked exactly the same yet ominously different. They changed from time to time and she was told it could since your mood. Her mood was week so it seamed to match.

The hours past but Lue finally text back. She had been at work and wasn't able to socialize. A smile appeared the moment her response appeared on her mobile. Time seamed to pause and she became lost in her friendship. They seamed to be able to talk about nothing and reciprocating kinship. Today it was about the pudding and pickles. The conversation drifted around the room till it came to a pleasant stop. Her lunch break was over and Jane was about to escape this place.

Hope arrived at the hospital ready to take her daughter home. It had been one week since this while situation started. Five of which she spent at the hospital. Things didn't settle down like they had in the past. Normally she would have taken her home as soon as possible. Most of the time she didn't even need to be hospitalized a simple visit to the instant care was enough.

The situation with that boy seamed to complicate things. Hope knew that those two had some special bond. She argued with Russel about even letting them be on the plane together. Despite how perfect and adorable as they where together, disaster was all the future they had together. He had failed the test five years earlier and it needed to be forgotten. If only Russel felt the same way, they had been at odds for as long as they could remember on this subject. Hopefully this time he would get it out of his system. Hope blamed Ann for this one.

As much as Hope wanted to hate Ann, she couldn't for one simple fact. Jane was the biggest blessing she could ever wished for. All of hopes and dreams of being a mother slowly withered away and she did her second best thing. She became a nurse which is how she was able to get real fake documents. It was easy and scary at the same time. She had to quit right after and move to discharge any disbelief. Luckily she was a medium body build so it was at least believable for her to hide the pregnancy.
