Exhalation

Ruff draft just thought on paper at the moment. I will review and revise soon.

Troy found his bed just seconds before his eyes closed. He had been struggling all day constantly pushing his feelings into the dark corners of his mind. The question he needed to know wasn't as simple as reading a book. It was more of a scavenger hunt in the darkness of his past. Small pictures and sudden feelings would just explode causing him to zone out for a split second. Everything seamed to set it off, from the color of the morning sunrise to the sound of a chirping cricket.

Troy closed his eyes and drifted to the deepest sleep, he hadn't been far into the vastness of his subconscious in for longer then he could remember. He found himself wondering through memories. Beside him was a young girl holding his had. She spoke the sweetest melody and his sole chimed in.

It's been a while she welcomed him. Have you been lost? He looked at her not being able to respond. He knew who she was and didn't at the same time. He had seen her standing in the shadows of his dreams, not know where she fit. She was just a pretty face in the crowd. Slowly waiting for him to notice her.

You are here that is all that matters. She hugged his arm releasing pure peace into his sole. Troy was still lost in the world of darkness unable to respond. She lead him through memories that where fragmented. As they stood next to each other they slowly came together.

It was Christmas and the four of them opened presents from each other. Troy was grinning from ear to ear. His little brother needed help opening his presents, it was the duty of an older brother to help. Together they ripped the bright wrapping paper. It was just a simply toy but their faces lit up with excitement and love. This was their last Christmas together. Troy stood there taking in the scene, until he was dragged from this world.

Moments later he was in his room with the light kissing his cheeks. His face was wet and his whole body felt stiff. It took him a minute to realize his alarm was screaming at him. He was going to be late. The boggling thoughts where just going to have to wait. he needed to be ready thirty minutes ago.

Ten minutes later he ran out the door. He was unprepared but better to be on time and unprepared then late. He was grateful for a personal car at a moment like today. Today was going to be another one of those days. He was going to have to fly by the seat of his pants. There was little he could do and worrying was only going district him from what needed to be done.

Troy was greeted by Sara, she was a small framed blond. She had been working with Troy for over a year now. Troy kept work life and play time separate. He definitely had feelings of attraction but never crossed that line. She would flirt with him and smile constantly. Today she was extra dolled up and met him with her biggest smile.

Troy thanked her for saving his butt. He quickly reviewed the chart of the child that was in recovery, he had just came in last night. The child was having problems breathing. Troy was reviewing the medication given to him. Common mistakes can be made if he didn't know exactly what the other doctor had done. Troy looked up just for a second he wanted to ask her a question. Sara was straightening her shirt. Troy normally enjoyed moments like these. She was definitely worth the time it took to look at her.

Today Troy found it odd that she seamed off in a way. It felt like he was looking at his sister in law. Cute but oddly unattractive. This lady was the ideal woman for him to look at. He never would admit it but this was one of the reasons he kept her by his side. Thank you Sara, was all he could say. He was disheartening and confused, what just happened. His eye candy turned into a pumpkin.

Troy worked his rounds and ordered Sara around all day. He kept a professional relationship and the conversation lively. Troy was starting to wonder if it was just Sara or was it just him. The longer the day went on the more she just seamed undesirables. Maybe he needed some time till this situation smoothed out. It was possible that he needed to get back to normal. Tonight he would go out and try to find some comfort. A couple of names came to mind. A simple text and a date would be in full swing.
