No more stitches

Jane ventured out of her room, a little more everyday. Her stitches had finally healed, leaving only a pink scar. Her body slowly gained more of its strength back. The days because longer and her hours of sleeping slowly went back to normal. Jane's room was filled of laughter and love. Her dreams become more welcoming with a formula faces. Jane had somehow changed, she felt more alive then she ever did before.

School breaks had come to an end, claiming all her company one by one. work finally took even her mother. Jane found herself in the mists of her own thoughts. Small images would creep into her thoughts. Old songs brought a laugh or a forgotten smile. Her world became more full making the house feel more empty. She normally felt happy and at peace with herself alone in the company of her thoughts.

The house was quiet as she typed away on her computer. School was less interesting and each lesson seamed to blend together with the one from before. She missed her roommates and their constant drama. Jane was always hitting the books and had very little of a love life, or social life for that matter. She still enjoyed watching her roommate fuss over something. Jane found herself amused by their way of priority.

On occasion Jane would go out with her roommates. Sometimes they would pick up conversation with a pair of gentlemen. Jane always felt like they had more interest in her roommates then they did her. She would fulfill her self prophecy and excuse herself. Leaving the four of them to a evening of self discovery. Jane knew who she was, she was her own best friend. Never really needing the reminder from anyone else. She was ok being the odd girl out.

Her plain ticket was made for early the next week. Jane had mixed feelings about returning back to school. She had one small doctor visit and she was cleared to go. A small part of her wanted to stay in this big house. It was safe in so many ways. The other part called to her begging her to go back to finish what she had started. She was majoring in physics and minoring in astronomy.

Jane loved the stories that fallowed the stars. They told wisdoms passed down from ages ago. Jane was currently reading Odin self sacrifice. She was writing a paper on the sacrifice a father will make for his children. The lengths that a modern father holds and it's impact.

Jane missed the star parties that lasted into the wee hours of the morning. She was excited because there was a star being born and she wanted to witness it under the large lens. She had been fallowing it for the last year. The telescope she had at home wasn't close to as powerful as the one on campus. It was also a lot harder to find. She loved the long hours she spent looking into the barely charted unknown.

Hours past before the house came alive again. Russel the first one to arrive home. Today was the first day he had been gone all day. Normally he bunkered down in his office and would spend lunch with her. They talked about school and family. Jane loved the silence the most, being able to just sit and enjoy the energy they both shared. Jane was greeted with a squeeze. Her father spoiled her and today was no exception. He would always say that his girls held his heart hostage. Jane always thought he was just silly.

Russel slipped into his study after a quick hello. He had work to do. He spent all morning making sure everything was under control. It took his daughter three times as long to heal this last time. The serum was stronger then ever before. He feared that a outbreak of this magnitude would be damaging to her, his worst fear was that she might die. Her blood work had been studied and he was waiting on the results. How could he hold it in more efficiently. Her new bracelet came with all new safety protocols. Her old one was studied, it was found to be working with in functioning specks.

Thomas was just as worried as Russel was and for good reason. Even though he had only seen her a handful of times he loved her with all his heart. She was the last he had left of her. He had to hide in the shadows from a distance. He had been working on a serum to slow the regeneration down. He had made a few break throughs although they seemed to only put a bandage on the bigger problem. He was bidding time and he knew it. This was more of Ann and Kyles field of work. Kyle had helped as much as he could but they needed the original formula. Ann was running out of time and they all knew it. She was going to have to risk it or all of them where going to be at risk.
