Chester, England
Bloody hell.
She thought as she stepped on a chewed gum, the streets felt like home, she could see
She stepped inside a restaurant, a woman waved at her, it was Ginny. They sat in silence for a minute.
" Why did you ask me not to tell a soul that you're here? They'd love to meet you" spoke Ginny with a worried tone.
" Just don't tell them, it's too risky. Anyway, I'm so glad to see you!" she said with a genuine smile.
" You did it, didn't you ?"
She then adjusted her tone to a cold voice and said" Who else could do it? You?"
" who else could it ?!" repeated the one sitting in front of her with a sarcastic tone " Just because you can't get what you want, doesn't mean people have to die for doing good !!" She yelled.
"And what about me, huh?! I'm just supposed to sit in the silence for the rest of my life and do nothing ?"
"There is plenty of ways to fight back that don't involve killing"
The British accent she spoke with made things sound more like a threat as she smashed her fist into the table "And what if I Want them DEAD? You got a problem with that ?"
"You're sick, do yourself and the world a favor and turn yourself in"
"Excuse me, I'm the fool to think that meeting you was a good idea" she then grabbed her purse and stood up.
"The money is paid, and …"
"And ??"
"And I, will get what I deserve, like it or not."
When she was finally gone and time couldn't get her back 5 minutes earlier to punch her in the face she whispered;
"That bitch needs to be stopped, nut job!!"
The West Virginia precinct received a mysterious call that night, claiming that the killer was in Chester, England.
"It's irrelevant, the murder happened in the USA why would the killer be in Britain? Did you even check the call's source? Must be a prank call"
The police officer standing hesitated before stuttered "Sir, it's not"
Patrick then started looking angrily at the officer, with his back straight he stood up "What makes you say that ?"
"The anonymous call mentioned a detail that wasn't revealed to the press. The cause of death, sir"
The detective froze, petrified, a million questions and thousands of different answers started spinning inside his head. Why would this happen now, and is the killer going to strike again?? He had no idea, again
"Call the doctor that was responsible for the anatomy, tell him to come immediately!!"
Meanwhile, a new storm was preparing to roar, and more hearts were about to be broken. Alina had just received the news of her adoption, a family wanted to adopt her.
To her surprise, it was a regular woman that used to come to the church and always pass by the foster care home, Alina liked her much. Her pastry always tasted good.
Alina's life could always fit in a small box, she was able to pack everything about her in a box, the only place where she belonged. She said goodbye and promised to keep in touch, she knew she wouldn't. Sister Janet kissed her on the forehead and made her swear to never do anything crazy ever again, she did even if her instinct told her not to.
She was sitting in the car, the air was hushed. The woman then broke the silence and said :
"You will be surprised to see him, I'm pretty sure you have met before"
Alina coughed, stared with her blue eyes at the kids playing as the car drove beside a kindergarten playground, she replied with a careless voice "Who? Your husband? Detective Patrick, right?"
"How did you know?"
Alina hummed, didn't reply.
The girl stood with her mouth wide open when she saw their big house.
"I didn't know detective's salary could afford a house this big"
"I didn't know you knew how much was a detective's salary?"
Alina shrugged, "I read in a random newspaper that the average salary was 97,830 thousand dollars per year, it's not much"
Now the woman stood at the end of the hallway with her mouth wide open, she stammered, "You're smarty pants aren't you ?" and before Alina could reply she added "Well, I like you, and I know that you too will get along pretty fast. How about you go upstairs and check your room, it's the second door to the left! I'll be there in a sec"
The room seemed like a little haven, the walls were painted grey, it had a twin bed next to it was a nightstand with a taller base, a seemingly comfortable mattress, and a giant contemporary frame against the wall, Alina imagined herself lying on it while reading her favorite books, she then observed the soft lighting and the vision board hanged to one of the walls, she wanted that one a very long time ago, the linens and the pillows were black and grey, a few blankets were folded and put by the edge of the bed. The draped curtains reached the floor, that was definitely a hiding spot, Alina thought. The room was a combination of fancy and picturesque at the same time.
The teenage girl was to draw into her thoughts and mixed emotions of joy and exhilaration that she didn't percept Selena watching her reaction from behind.
"Well, a therapist's salary can definitely pay for that" she claimed with a huge smile on her face knowing that her new daughter loved the room she was planning for months.
Alina turned to her, sobbing. Selena gave her a warm hug because she felt like what Alina needed was action, not words.
The little pile of cuteness wiped her teary eye and said "I didn't know you were a therapist"
"Now you do honey, I made you the windows treatment to provide complete darkness, I heard you loved obscurity, oh and stay here and unpack your stuff, I'll go make lunch before Patrick comes home okay?"
Alina nodded.
*A new life is here Alina, get your shit together, you'll be okay. No one will find out, therapist or not, she won't find out" she thought.
Everything was set for a new beginning, little did she know what kind of omen has she brought to this family.
