Kleek and i made our way out of the dungeon together, the was nothing left in here aside from the ice shards and mangled bodies of enemies i had killed, but it didn't seem to bother her at all. Once we got to the field I remembered something.
"Hey, can you help me gather a lot of these flowers? I want to expand my knowledge of plants here and maybe learn a few new recipes while I'm at it."
She nodded her head a bit confused when I mentioned recipes but helped me gather the plants in the field for an hour. We barely made a dent in the entire field but the results were amazing. I even gather some of the shrubs there because they turned to wood in my inventory. I also organized it by type thanks to the help of the system.

After that we started making out way towards a nearby small village, it had a blacksmith there and maybe i would be able to utilize the forge if the owner was nice, but knowing that i might have to pay and not wanting to part with the gems as they had a purpose to my crafting idea i kept having the system ping for nearby entities. It wasn't until we reached the edge of the meadow and the beginning of the forest that i got pings. Lots and lots of deer, wolves and the like, but i wasn't concerned with the small rodents and rabbits, just the deer and wolves. Sadly no bears as they would likely drop good things right?
I told kleek that i wanted to hunt for meat and animal hides while we made our way to the village and she nodded her head as she followed me. After another 2 and a half hours of slight detours from the moving towards the village to kill a few animals i was happy with the results. Not like i could really complain anyway as the smoke from the village was visible in the gaps of the canopy.
All in all, 64 Deer and 88 wolves fell victim to me. The deer gave 2 hides each and the wolves only 1 each, but even then it was more than enough especially when a half of them were rare or uncommon. Split evenly down the middle. In total, 108 common hides, 54 uncommon and 54 rare. A nice haul, especially since all the Rare hides came from wolves and the rest were of the hides from them being uncommon, meant wolves would be my goto hunting target for rare and uncommon hides in the future. Its why i killed more of them in the end, and i started to leave the deer alone.
The small town reminded me of a game i once played over and over and over. It was called clouds edge, and the mc fought against dragons during a civil war between two factions. The town was called river tree and was the first town most people visited due to its proximity to the start, though the game was open world and you could just not go to the town or do the quests at all.
We made our way to the small blacksmith shop where the owner was hard at work sharpening a large stack of swords, the forge itself being open. He looked like a man in his mid 30's, dark hair, and a full beard. Muscles rippled under his skin showing that he was someone who had been working with his hands a lot lifting and moving heavy objects on a regular basis.
"Excuse me sir" i said trying to get his attention.
"Yeah, you can use the forge, just leave me some coins or hides. 10 common hides or 30 coins. Either is fine."
'Well that was easy…' "ok sir, here." I set the 10 hides on an empty table nearby before going over to the main forge. I pulled out the scrap iron and began melting it. Once it started to liquify i added some of the bone shard and bone pieces to the metal. After that i added 10 of the uncommon slime cores and all 4 of the rubrys gems. Soon the mixture turned into one unanimous liquid and i made sure to mix it a bit before pulling it off the heat.
Nearby there were magical molds for armour and i had kleek already preset them for armour to fit me. I poured the mix into the molds and still had a fair amount left, enough to probably make a second set for kleek so I decided to put it back under heat and wait for the first set to cool. Once it cooled i took the set out of the molds and poured again after setting it to fit her.
I looked at the armour in my inventory and wasn't disappointed, it seems the gems increased the rarity, or at least thats what i assumed, and due to the magical properties of the molds i was able to set the appearance to something of a mixture between the bone armour i had and plate mail, the edges looking like bones fused to the metal plates, giving the whole set a powerful look.
I looked at the armour in my inventory with happiness.
+M Bone Iron Chest Plate dur 500/500 (heavy)
+M Bone Iron Helm; dur 400/400 (heavy)
+M Bone Iron gloves; dur 200/200 (heavy)
+M Bone Iron greaves; dur 500/500 (heavy)
+M Bone Iron boots; dur 200/200 (heavy)
Though the set was better than expected one thing confused me.
'System, what are the little + marks next to the rarity of the armour?'
"It means the armour can be improved further, and if done right it can be made into legendary grade armour."
'Ahhh… '
I closed the inventory amd waited for the armour to cool for a bit before realizing i still needed a better weapon too… sadly i used the last of the mix on kleeks armour but it wouldnt be hard to make more but with a different gem.
I repeated the process again, and checked my use of materials, in total i used 120 bone shards, 500 bone pieces, 2000 scrap iron, 20 uncommon slime cores, the 4 rubrys gems and now the 3 ditrus gems. Once the new mix settled in i set the 3 available weapon molds up for three different weapons, the first one a dagger, for kleek. The second a new sword for me. And the last was a bow set up. All three weapons resemble the demon weapons from the game clouds edge in that they were black almost but instead of a red glow they had a white one. The armour more closely resembled the games armour with its red glow from the crevices.
By the time i finished pouring the mix Kleeks armour was ready and i pulled it out and gave it to her.
"Here, to help keep you safe. If your really want to stay with me them i cant risk you getting hurt by anything."
"Wh…. This… you…"
"Yeah, i know… im surprised myself its of the quality it is…" her armour was also +M rarity and this confirmed that the other people of this world could tell the difference in rarity of items.
"B-but no one in the last few hundred years has been able to craft a set of armour above the level of rare… this is… a first in a long time… you would really give me a gift this precious?" She looked up at me and for the first time i saw personality, no more like soul in what i thought was a monster. Her eyes showed pure joy and appreciation, like that of a regular human… kind of reminded me of the way one of my friends would look at her husband whenever he did something nice for her.
"Yes. You saved me in the dungeon, and now i shall make sure you are always safe with me."
Her green cheeks blushed hard as she looked up at me, becoming more pink than green. I turned back around and removed the weapons now that they had cooled and were ready for the last step, sharpening the dagger and sword and stringing the bow. For the latter i had an idea on how to make bow string as I utilized the system.
'System i need you to turn 4 of the rare hides into leather for me please.'
"Done, 40X rare leather obtained."
'And 5 of that into leather strips?'
"Ok, the leather strips recipe will not be available for you. 25 leather strips obtained."
'Lastly, grind up two of the emrys gems and combine the dust with enough leather strips to make a bow string.'
"One moment…
…
…
Ok, task has been completed, 1X legendary bow string obtained. Emrys Gem dust consumed. 5x leather strips consumed."
'Thank you- wait did you say legendary????'
"Yes. It seems that from what you have accomplished so far, the use of gems in crafting allows for the crafter to make higher quality gear."
"Ok… well then… that gives me an idea then…"
I used the last 3 emrys gems, one for each of the weapons, the sword and dagger having it fit into the pommel, and the bow having it put dead center, and thinking why not it took 6 of the saprys gems and inlaid 2 on each end of the guards on the dagger and sword, then two on the ends of the bow. Once I convinced the smith to let me borrow the grind stone for a moment to finish my weapons i looked at all three incredibly satisfied.
