The last delves before the big city

After admiring the baby fire dragon for a while we began making our way out again. As we did i noticed a change in the atmosphere, shadows seemed to move all around us.

"System, is there anything near me?"

"Yes, there are several creatures nearby. Identifying them now…"

"Identified creatures. 20 Level 20 shimmer drakes surround you and your companions."

"Is there any info on them that you can give me?"

"According to my data base they are very timid creatures, typically scavengers when getting food but when forced to take live prey they hunt in packs. Their scales allow them to blend into their environment and only the most adept and mindful of people will ever notice them."

"Ok…"

I thought about what to do… i could attack them and probably slay them if i hit them, as i would definitely be able to kill them. I was more than strong enough. But maybe they could allow the dungeon to repopulate, making more monsters for me to come back and slay… i did need to earn XP but there were still two dungeons left… with the baby dragon perched on my shoulder I wrapped my arm around Kleek and sprinted as fast as i could, leaving the shimmer drakes far behind me. On the surface the sun was a few hours till sunset now, but if i carried Kleek we could make it to the next dungeon. I looked at her as i ran along the trail to the next city ready to hop off at the first of the 2 remaining dungeons.

Her face was bright red as i ran, carrying her, it was then that i realized i had her in a princess cary, so it made sense she would feel however she felt, to her i was probably a prince in shining armour come to sweep her off her feet.

Well minus the shining armour bit for now…

I set her down once we reached the entrance and we set up camp, far enough away from the entrance to not be disturbed in case the monsters decided to come out.

Unable to sleep i waited till Kleek was out cold and I mentally commanded the drake to watch over her while i went in and cleared the dungeon.

"God i wish the drake would catch up to my level and not be so low level…"

"Granting request… pet system updated for all pets. Pets now rapidly level and will earn 10x XP until they reach the exact same XP as you, at which point they will level at the same pace."

"I had almost forgot about the wish function… hmm… this will be very useful incase i get other powerful pets."

I went in and began slaying and looting, even cutting up the bodies again for the bones of the monsters, but this time i met new monsters, most the dungeon was lizard like creatures still, but these were all serpents.

I killed the snakes fast, and took their scales as they might be useful for something maybe.

The boss was a giant cobra, able to spit venom but it wasn't able to hit me, only leave melting pits where i was standing. My sword cut through its head easily and it was dead.

I looked at the overall XP rewards and enjoyed they hefty 200,000 before buffs… a nice 600,00 for me and 2,000,000 for my drake. The numbers of serpants were definitely worth the 4 hours it took to swipe through them all in this large dungeon. Let alone the fact that was just the first floor. Already the drake almost caught up hitting level 17 itself. After the next floor it would be the same amount of experience points as me. I cleared the next floor just as easily though it took another 4 hours to run through.

Having slain the boss i headed back up just in time for Kleek to be waking up to be just as surprised as me by the growth of the Baby Fire dragon. Another 300,000 XP before buffs net me a nice 900,000 XP and wouldve been 9million XP for the dragon but it lost its 10X buff when it matched my exact XP level.

A moderately sized dragon stood near Kleek as she shreiked. Feeling the bond between us i knew it was my dragon, but checking my pets list i saw that it was no longer a baby but a juvenile now.

"Its ok kleek, i went into the dungeon and i guess the dragon earned XP from me killing all the monsters… it leveled up and now i guess its a juvenile after only a day…"

"I-i…. Its… so big now…"

The dragon now was 4 feet long from nose to tail, a fair size compared to it being under a foot long before going into the dungeon.

"Yeah… but thats ok, it means it can now actually protect us and help us out."

"Ok…" she looked flustered by the rapid growth but didn't say anything.

I helped her pack as i eyed the dragon, its once bright red scales now a blood red and seemed a lot more durable. Moving onto the next spot only an hour later we pushed inside it. It was an old mine shaft left after some monsters occupied the area. Mostly just goblins but there were too many for a normal person to deal with that they overran the place. Picking up all the left over gems after pulling them out of the walls and using my sword to cut out some of the ores in the walls i checked the results.

"Horizus ore is an ore unique to this world, found in large deposits clumped in an area, but not very common in mines on the continent."

'Weird… but ok then…'

We set up camp before it got dark and i hunted down a deer for us to eat for supper before we fell asleep. I slept peacefully and once the sun started to rise i awoke to find Kleek was gone. I looked at the dragon and it knew my intent was to ask it where she went. It looked off to the distance as if to say that way, so that way i went…
