"Noir?" Solis asked, shaking his fiancé's shoulder lightly. "What are you thinking so deeply about?"

Solis's silver grey eyes were filled with concern and worry.

Noir was pulled from his jumbled up and dark thoughts by the beloved sound of Solis's voice. His mind was pulled into the present, back into reality, where he was sitting on the couch in the house that had become his own home in the modern world, cocooned in the warm arms of his dear, dear fiancé, Solis.

Noir gathered his thoughts visibly, and with a dreamy smile, he caressed Solis's face with gentle fingers. "I was just thinking about my mother and why on earth would she be willing to exchange her own life simply to offer me a chance to live. Wouldn't it have been better for her to let me be killed?" he asked. "What is even the point of my existence?"
