Like I said before I'm staying alive.
After all the henchmen left Colton and I came to an agreement. Sorta. Still working out the fine details but all I know is the bright fresh air that hit my eyes pierced and refined my soul.
Damn it was dark as hell in there.
Walking out the room Thomas led me through the mansion.
" I'm surprised you're alive Miss. Langlsey." Thomas spoke up as I smirked.
I knew exactly what he was referring to. Hell I should be dead. After a life and death match. And facing Colton by myself I realize today was not my day. " I'm not that easy to kill, Thomas. And call me Kaira, no need to be formal." I suggested as he quickly took note.
He explained that the floor plan of the place which was basically the kitchen, dining room, living room, guest rooms, bodyguard rooms, and pool were all the first floor.
" So I'm guess the Master and little master room is upstairs." I said mockingly.
" Along with the office and yours." Thomas informed me as I blinked. What? My face had written all over it. " Oops, I guess you weren't aware of that yet. I'll let Master Colton tell you more about that later. "
Excuse me. Tell me about it. When did I consent to living here?
Well to be truthful I did just get kidnapped, and technically said yes. Maybe I'm going through Stockholm Syndrome?
Or maybe I was just crazy? After all I was a mafia boss child raised to see bloodshed and violence. Training as the best assassin in the world, killing individual with my own two hands.
Do I need to see a psychiatrist?
Probably. Yeah
Am I going ? Nope.
" Whatever." I mumbled as we walked upstairs pointing to each respective location as we arrived at an open area that seemed to be the playroom. In the middle of the playroom sat the mini me of Colton, but much cuter. The bodyguard from earlier was attempting to get his attention as he barely fiddled with the toys as he shot his little head up and ran towards me.
" Mommy!" Milo exclaimed with the biggest smile.
Thump
Thump
Geez, my heart couldn't stand this. Why was he so darn cute. Why couldn't his father be more like him. He stopped at my knees as I squatted down to close the gap between us and get a better look at him.
I tilted my head as I reciprocated a smile, " Hi, baby. What you doing?" I asked truthfully.
" Nothing." He denied any entertain.
Behind him I heard a gasp coming from the bodyguard. " Master Milo! I cannot believe you deny my presence after I played with you. You hurt my feelings so much. I am your favorite, uncle!" He assured as Milo swayed his lips side to side.
" Actually its uncle Thomas but you're a close second." Milo admitted as he face planted and Thomas just push his glasses up with a sly grin. " But my favorite is mommy!" He giggled uncontrollably as both men turned to stone and he hugged me.
I embraced him back feeling the pure love and affection radiate from his little soul. Although his father was another subject, I wouldn't have a problem taking care of Milo. He reminded me of how I use to take care of my brother Lucas. I wonder how he is now?
"That's easy taking care of the clan for you!" A voice creeped up from my subconscious as I shoved it away. Right, he was their new leader. Oof, he probably hates me. I should apologize one day.
I shrugged, oh well future Lydia's problem.
This small boy need a mother now. Everything else could be dealt with later. If I could be that one person he could rely on and go to when everything gets tough then I would gladly accept. " I'll guess I'll adopt you." I muttered under my breath running my hands through his soft baby hair.
He pulled away slightly playing with my necklace, "Mommy, I'm glad you're okay." He added.
" What you mean?" I asked tilting my head.
" Daddy tends to get angry, but he's not a bad person. He actually a great daddy, so please stay?" He pleaded as he fiddled with his hands. I looked at him, with true innocence and bliss. I thought the same thing of my father. Of course, many people didn't share the same opinion but I saw the man he was when he wasn't harming others. Beyond the facade of being a mafia boss, leader, killer, ruthless man was still a human. A human with a heart and feelings. Strange as it might seem, I understood every word he spoke.
Actually seeing me in him. I had accepted this because I knew I was the only person with the guts to defy his father.
"It's okay, I know how he"s like. But don't forget mommy strong too." I reassured tapping his little nose as he broke into laughter. His eyes then seemed to lit up. I wondered if it was funny or a promised I seemed to made him.
Then I heard a chuckle behind me, " I'll see it, to believe it." The voice sounded oddly familiar as I whipped my headed as he stood towering over me with his hands in his pocket. I turned to stone and crumbled.
Of course he didn't take me seriously. I mean I'm five- two looking at a six-four man. I must have looked like a chihuahua attempting to fight a husky. I rolled my eyes at his comment.
" Daddy!" Milo welcomed as he reached his arms up, as Colton picked him up. His face was no longer in anger or scowl, yet free of any emotion.
" Hey, little guy everything alright?" He gently asked as Milo nodded resting his head on his shoulder.
I fluttered my eyes. What?
Was this the same person I was dealing with just minutes prior? Were did the evil demon go? Who is this impostor ? He didn't even seem like the Dragon clan fearsome leader, rather an actually father. I mean it was kinda sweet and hot. A man taking care of his child, of his people.
Wait, a minute! I might have daddy issues. I took myself out of my internal quarrel.
" You seem tired." He checked his watch. " Well its actually time to go to sleep."
Milo shook his head, " No! I want to spend some more time with Mommy." He whined as he wanted to stay by my side.
" Don't worry, you'll have plenty of time to play with her tomorrow. You have to go to sleep." He reassured as Milo debated.
I stood up placing my hand on his little cheek, making sure to stray from Colton, " It's alright, Milo. Listen to your dad. Tomorrow we'll do whatever you want." I supported him, for no other reason than believing we should all turn in for the night.
" You promise?" He question looking at me with puppy eyes.
" Of course, I'll be head. Now go to bed." I told him as he give in.
" Ok, mommy. Goodnight." He yawned as he reached out and place a kiss on my cheek. His sweet scent lingered in the air for a second longer. " Good night, papa." He did the same as Thomas and Robertson took him away.
" Good night." We stated at the simultaneously staring at his little frame until he left. Colton began walking out as I called out.
"You know I didn't agree to sleeping here." I began annoyed at the fact I wasn't even asked. I mean the fact I had some say. I need to use it. " I have my own place. I can just come back tomorrow." I suggested.
" No." He firmly answered.
I ceased my forehead, " No? You can't keep me in here forever. That's kidnapping." I threatened as he looked over his shoulder at me.
He smirked as he crossed his arms, " I didn't say you couldn't leave. I just said you have to sleep here. It's on your contract."
Oh great like that's suppose to make me feel better!
" Contract! I haven't signed anything so its invalid." I informed as he rubbed his temples.
I know I could be annoying as all hell, but just give me what I want. " You gave me your word. Didn't you? It's the same. Just go to your room. I have more important things to dealt with." He uttered as he walked away.
I stood there. I could seek out, but I had no idea how far I was from town or my apartment. I gave in. Great, how am I suppose to know where I am going to sleep? Eventually I decided just to sleep on the couch and turn off the lights.
And from there I went to dreamland.
Ring- ring
Ring- ring
Ring- ring
I groaned as I wondered who the hell was interrupting my sleep. No. I won't answer. I'm too tired. After the day I've had. Everyone calling could wait. Fuck it they could go to hell. The buzzing stopped as I heavenly sighed.
Ring-ring
Ring-ring
Ring-ring
I flashed opened my eyes. Just who the -
I looked down at my phone as the screen caller ID: Mom.
Mom.
Mom.
Oh its just my mom.
MOMMY!!!!!!
" Shit." I cursed under my breath as I sat up. What am I going to tell her? Hey mom, I just got kidnapped and I'm working for the baby daddy because now I'm the baby momma, taking care of the baby.
I quickly hit answer as I held the phone to my ear.
" Hello?"
" Lydia!Lydia! Oh dear finally you pick up." She almost cried, " I was so worried. What happened? Why aren't you back home? Where are you?" She jumbled all together as I attempted to answer all of them but then I recalled I was in a house fulled with mafia members. They couldn't know my true identity ever.
" Hey mom just give me one second." I said as I trailed down the stairs.
" Oh, Lydia!' She muffled.
I turned looking for a backyard instead finding a over-sized garden. Perfect. I carefully turned the knob as I walked out the chilly air settling in my bones. I wondered a bit further so no one could hear me.
" Ok, I can talk now." I made known as she sighed.
" Lydia, sweetie. Where are you?" She questioned.
I wondered what was the right response to this, " Don't worry I'm at a friends house." I lied so horrible and deeply.
She paused, " Are you sure? They haven't found you? Right. They kidnapped you?" I widened my eyes how did she know. Was it a mother daughter connection? From the womb? She cried. " Oh Lydia, please don't lie to me. I can't take it if they done something to you."
My heart tugged. My conscious was more active than ever. I was biting my nails. My mother whom I know a very short time, yet feels like forever was always a worrywart. With her condition worry and concern would just kill her more. Even if I wasn't fine. I wasn't dead. I could deal with it myself. She didn't have to take part in this. Whatever it was, I couldn't tell her the truth. She didn't need anymore concern.
" No, no. I'm just babysitting." I partly spoke the truth.
They're was no sound. I knew she was debating if it was the truth or not.
" Look, mom. I'm ok. I just doing some babysitting and they'll pay me some good money for your bills. I just have to sleepover occasionally."
" Occasionally?" She suspiciously questioned.
" Every day, but I'm going to visit whenever I can, and definitely on weekends. Don't stress it. It's good money, and we can pay off your bills because I know you need your treatments."
" Lydia, I told you not to-."
I cut her off knowing the words she would said. " Yeah, I know not to worry about it, but I can't help it. Let me take care of you for once." I offered.
Would she say yes? Would she say no? I mean she didn't have a say really. I was going to do it. For us. For Milo. For even freaking Colton. After a long pause she accepted.
" Ok, dear. But take care of yourself."
I could thank the heavens with all my might.
" Thanks mom.l will. Besides don't say it like I will never see you again. I'm coming over friday. So I'll see you them."
" Good night then."
" Good night, mom."
" I love you sweetie, always my little one." She reassured with a sweet tone as my strength was fortified.
" I love you too, mom." I repeated as I waited for he to hang up as I put my phone away.
I exhaled loudly, not caring who heard me. I ran my fingers through my hair as I turned around.
Staring up at the clear night there was a bright light coming from a west room. Must be Colton's room. He was still up. I mean he must be working on something important? I mean no mobster could sleep in peace. With the amount of people you have to care for? Virtually, impossible.
Then from the french doors he stood out. He was still wearing the same clothes. His shirt was completely opened flaunting his perfect six pack abs, and v-line. The moonlight accentuated the lines of his body even more. The cigarette lingering of on his lips as he blew the smoke to the wind.
He smokes, huh?
Bad addiction already.
I couldn't blame him, whatever stress he could release was probably best. Suddenly, our gazes met. But this one was different, there was no challenging one another. Rather curiosity. Like two equals recognizing one another. I squinted trying to get a better look at him. I wonder if he was even really looking at me. Or rather the mask of the person who I pretend to be? Colton tilted his head as I copied.
He muttered some inaudible words as I perked my brow. What did he just say? Was he calling for my attention? Or cursing me out? I went to call out for him, but he had already turned around and entered his room. I threw my hands up.
Damn, seriously?
I mean I don't know what I'm expecting. He wasn't a gentleman. The exact opposite. But still he was a father tending to his child as best as possible. I only know one thing now.
I guess I really am a mommy now.
