Chapter 28 - Lost and found.

As he got up to freshen up, Bao called, and said, "Would you both like to join me, to visit the hospital to check on Zhao Qiang?"

Liqin nodded and responded, "Yes, of course. There is no doubt about that. We will meet you down for breakfast."

"Meet you downstairs then."

As the call got disconnected, Liqin said, "We need to get to the hospital after breakfast. I will go freshen up first."

As they walked to the diner, for the breakfast, Bao was already waiting for them, and said, "I have already ordered the breakfast as usual. You guys add if anything else needed to be added."

"Just add a glass of fresh juice. That's it. What about you Liqin?"

"Same as you."

As they reached the hospital, Zhao Chynna welcomed them.

Bao walked to her and asked, "How is he doing now?"

Chynna turned to Qiang on the bed and replied, "He has had a very disturbed sleep last night. He was the whole night murmuring about a car accident. It is my fault entirely. Had I not been rash that evening, he would have not reached this stage. He had always been protective of me, and I have always brought trouble for him."

Bao looked at him consolingly and said, "It's all right. He will be fine. I just spoke to the doctor, and his vitals and reports are all normal. He may have regained his lost memory."

Chynna turned to Bao asked, "When did he lose his memory?"

Bao stood still, placed his hands in his pockets, and replied, "Your mother found him stranded, on the road after an accident four years before you were born, and brought him up as her own, as he had lost his memories."

Chynna asked with tears in her eyes, "Does that mean, that I have no siblings?"

Liqin interrupted and replied, "Yes. Officially yes., and your father seems to know his family, and I believe is going to discuss this finding with them eventually."

Chynna fiddled with her hands, looked down, and replied, "So it means, that I will lose the person who cares for me the most after mom, as well."

Jia held her by her shoulders and replied, "Not necessarily. Remember his family might have been waiting for years as well in grief. With the kind of care, that he showers on you, I don't think he will leave you anytime soon."

As they were talking Zhao Fai walked in with breakfast, and said, "Good morning. Nice to have you guys around."

Bao smiled and replied, "It's our pleasure, Mr. Zhao."

Chynna interrupted, and asked, "Dad, is he going to leave us soon?"

Zhao Fai held his daughter lovingly, and said, "Well, I wouldn't want him to leave either. I have gotten used to having him around. But, if he is the person whom we are thinking him to be, then his family has been in grief for years now.

It would be unjust, to not disclose the fact to them. On the concern of him leaving, it is up to him to leave or to stay. But that is very doubtful, because he is the heir to a huge business empire, and they would be glad to have him back. Given his capabilities, that is bound to happen. They might even change his name back to Liu as well. Let us hope for the best for him. Isn't that the right thing to do Chynna? He already knew about his adoption all these years, as I had disclosed the same in his presence to the doctor, due to his frequent headaches, since his childhood."

Chynna replied with tears, "He knew about this. Why didn't you both tell me?"

"I suppose, he didn't want you to know about it."

As they were talking Qiang opened his eyes, and asked, "Water—"

Chynna got a glass of water, as Liqin helped him to sit. As he was sipping the water, he saw the moist eyes of Chynna, and asked, "Were you crying? I will not die so soon. You cannot get rid of me that soon."

That was the last straw, that she could hold, and hugged him bursting out in tears, and said, "Will you leave us, and go back to your family? I just found out, that dad adopted you, as you had lost your memories."

Qiang wrapped her in the warmth of his arms, and said, "It seems, that you are eager to get rid of me on the contrary. Is this some sort of a new prank? If it is, then you will be dejected to know, that I am going to hang around you, to pester you like always. Now, will you stop crying? Don't you think the image of you as a Diva, will take a hit with these tears?"

She looked up at his face, and said, "Promise."

Qiang smiled, nodded, and replied, "I promise you I won't stop pestering you till you are tired."

Fai interrupted him with his hands, and said, "Qiang, I don't think you should be promising things, that would be tough to keep up."

Qiang looked up and replied, "There's no breaking that promise, whether I am here or abroad, dad."

Fai smiled, and said, "How are you feeling now?"

Qiang shook his head and responded, "Better. It's just, that I am not able to get over, the face of my mother going down the hill, before she opened my seat belt, and pushed me out."

Fai sat down beside him and asked, "Are you the son of Gao Lee."

Qiang closed his eyes for a moment, then opened them and replied, "I would prefer to be known as the son of Liu Lee. Addressing her as Gao Lee would be an insult to her sacrifice. Did my dad ever care for us? He was only interested in her wealth."

Fai held his hands and responded, "I am waiting for Bao's father to come back, to inform your maternal family about your whereabouts. I am responsible to them for you. They have been on the lookout for you, for years together now. I would do them an injustice if I keep you away from them now."

Qiang looked into his eyes and asked, "Do you know the whereabouts of my dad? He has a debt to be paid back for all that he did."

Fai shook his head and responded, "Qiang, you should let the bygones be bygones. Your mother would not want you to walk a path of grudge. She would always have wanted you to succeed in life, and be blessed with peace and joy, that eluded her always.

The whereabouts of your dad are unknown. The last, that was heard of him was about twenty-nine years ago. His whereabouts after that are unknown."

Qiang looked down, shrugged, and responded, "I would prefer to consider you as my family, rather than be the son of Gao Shing. Even if the Liu family takes me back, I will take the name of Liu Taio.

I have a request to make. Is it possible to keep this discovery under wraps? I understand, that the Liu family has been long awaiting my return. But, if I return, it will again create a link, between the Liu household and Gao Shing. Given his record of greed, he will surely try to use me, to get to the wealth of the Liu household."

Fai let go of his hand, stood up, and replied, "Let us see what can be done. We cannot withhold the fact from them, about their grandson being brought up in the Zhao household. The best, that we can do is keep this concealed from the media."

Bao interrupted, and said, "Well, I don't know of the history of the families, but as long as you don't change your name back to Taio, it would be difficult for the media to trace it."

Fai shook his head and replied, "There is a feeble chance of the name change not happening. He is an American citizen, by birth."

Bao smiled and added, "Since you are feeling better, we would like to take your leave as I need to get back home by the afternoon flight."

Liqin placed his hands on his shoulder and added, "We are glad to know, that you are feeling better now."

As they left the hospital, Bao asked, "What are you guys planning to do? Would you like to stay back?"

Liqin looked at Jia, and asked, "Would you want to extend the vacation?"

Jia shook her head and responded, "Let us go back with Bao. We have had a nice vacation already. There might be things needing your attention, piled up already. I saw so many of your emails piled up, that you need to attend to. Moreover, Uncle Enlai is also not there."

Liqin smiled and responded, "Thank you for the considerate response. As a matter of fact, I wanted to tell this to you."

Jia turned around and replied, "Then why did you not say it? I would always want you to be frank about things. I understand responsibilities well, as I grew up with dad being busy always."

Bao interrupted, and said, "I will then ask my assistant to book your tickets as well."

Liqin turned to him and asked, "What about the car?"

Bao placed his hand on his shoulder and responded, "Jack will accompany us. Dad would not want us meddling with the security. As for the driver, let him drive back."

Bao connected to his assistant and asked her to do the necessary bookings while Liqin called up Jack, and informed him about the change of plan.

Jia intertwined her hands around Liqin's and added, "I think we should go for a quick lunch before packing our stuff."

Bao smiled and responded, "That's true."
