Chapter 10

Evie who appeared calm replied when Darcie brought up the topic again. "It must be the runes. We have seen many types of spirit cleansers but those which have runes. I do not know what effects that will have though."

Tyler also presented his opinion. "Hmm, Damian how about inviting your grandson here for a bit? It's not like there is anything harmful in checking him."

Others also nodded slowly but they too were a bit reserve because it was something of a sensitive subject.

The spirit cleanser was a treasure only some were capable of laying their hands on and those who had experienced spirit cleansing were many times subject of intense research.

The kingdom was flourishing, they had powerful experts, but it was a rarity for them to see the spirit cleanser or those who had used them.

Damian thought for a while and tapped his finger on the table. Shortly after Louis came from the garden entrance.

Without looking over, Damian opened his mouth. "Louise if would please, get Jude here." Louis did not waste time and turned around as soon as he heard Damian speak.

Damian thought about it as he also checked Jude after the event but did not see any difference or strange occurrence with him. He was worried that there might be something he was looking over but even after a long time, he did not find anything.

So when they asked him about checking Jude he was not against the idea and they knew each other to the point that they could even trust their own lives in each other's hands.

Zane who was silent all along looked over the entrance that Louis had gone through. "He's still serving you. Does he still not want to go to the outside world?"

Damian smiled hearing that. "I asked him many times but that's just how he is."

Zane did not ask further as they began talking about other topics.

Louis came with Jude while they were talking. After delivering him there he left without saying anything.

Jude came running towards his grandfather and sat on his lap.

"Well, he certainly is energetic despite having experienced the cleansing." Marley spoke in her cold tone seeing Jude sit on Damian's lap."

Damian shook his head when he heard that. "No, he did not experience the cleansing, in fact there are no signs of spirit cleansing being used. That is what the most confusing part this is."

Evie looked over Jude and her eyes flashed with light. "Hmm. It is true, he does not appear to be under the effects of the cleansing."

Darcie also had eyes flashed with light as she spoke. "He did say that it will be useful when he grows up, so do you think it's dormant and not effective instantly?"

Tyler also said after looking over. "There is a possibility, but why would it not be shown to our eyes?"

"Who knows. It's not that surprising when you consider that those little brats don't even remember about the old man. If he wanted to, he could've done the same to us. So I don't think that it's we who don't see it but rather we cannot see it." Evie said after analysing Jude.

Darcie spoke turning her head around to Damian, "He must be above 4th circle spirit master at least to do that."

Zane also nodded his head agreeing with her, "Even we are barely in 2nd circle and I don't think there is anyone in the 3rd circle at the moment in the kingdom."

Marley said, "Even those from royal family don't have anyone in the 3rd circle. And if he's above the 4rth circle then he's definitely from outside the kingdom."

Darcie also said, "If that is true, why is he here of all the places? Our kingdom does not have anything special or is not powerful enough to have anything that could be satisfying to him."

Damian spoke while tousling his grandson's hair, "I do not think he is looking for treasures or other things. If anything he's more like waiting for his time here."

Marley asked again, "And what makes you think that?"

Damian smiled, "Just a hunch, when I pass by he looks just like us. Our time is also nearing."

Darcie snorted loudly, "You can go ahead and wait for me there in the underworld for me then, my time still has not come for me."

When they heard her, the old men and women started laughing. They talked about a lot of things, like the war going on, riots of the commoners, famine in some regions and events happening outside the kingdom.

...

A month passed and the guest who came for the celebration left slowly. The chief's close friends chose to stay for a while but even they left the town shortly after. There were duties they had to shoulder in their clans and families.

The houses created outside the town were either sold or donated to some merchants and poor townsmen.

Sitting in front of the old man Grey, Jaiden and Renee were nervous. The old man's eyes were close as he closed his eyes while holding Renee's hand.

After a while, he opened then and looked over Jaiden, "She is fine and the baby is also not in any danger. But did I not tell you to come back when you finish that portion of the tea?"

The old man spoke slowly but Jaiden was afraid he was angry and immediately bowed his head while standing up.

"Uncle Grey I am sorry. It was me who told her not to speak about it." Renee also stood up and before she started apologizing, the old man Grey waved his hand.

"Stop stop, I said before they are grown by me so you don't have to worry about the supply or cost. Just ask me when you finish the next batch." He stood up and walked inside the other room and came back while the couple stood there afraid to make a sound.

They were afraid because they did not say anything about the tea leaves Renee finished and when they thought about how the wisewoman said it was much better than her medicines, they did not wanted to waste them.

But recently Renee got hungry as well as weakened after waking up. They thought it was normal but after a few days, she even fainted while working, forcing her to stop the work that day.

They came to the old man the next day to check if anything was wrong. And he simply asked them about the tea.

Only then they remembered that the tea was long finished by her and when she stopped consuming it she started feeling the weakness immediately after. Because they decided to take it in small quantity it took them a long time to finish.

The old man gave them a new wooden box filled with tea leaves.

"These tea leaves are not special but extremely helpful when the baby is in its growth period. If you start consuming them it's hard to stop the effect it will have on the baby.

And if the baby is not provided with enough nutrients which come after consuming this tea, he will look for other sources. In this case, your body as you're carrying him and also the closest to him.

Now go. Take the tea two times a day from now on, first in the morning and then at night when you return from the work."

The couple bowed and departed to their house.

Renee breathed a sigh of relief when she closed the door after entering their house, "Thank the gods the elder was not angry."

Jaide looked at her, "He's not a type to be angry at people but we should've told him about the tea much earlier. If I knew that it'll even affect the baby's growth I would not have hesitated. Forget about it, for now, go start making your tea while I go outside."

Jaiden exited the house through the backdoor for the firewood while Renee went to their small kitchen.
