The truth about my mother’s disappearance

The bodyguards looked terrified. "Miss, did we disturb you?"

When they were sent here, Ken warned them not to upset me.

I wiped my mouth with a napkin and said, "I have to go to the Flying Bird company tomorrow to deal with those annoying things. There will be no need for you to come with me in the future. If he really cared about me, let him come and see me in person."

Catherine sensed something was off between Ken and I. "I don't know what is happening between you and Ken, but I hope you will get back together soon."

She continued, "I don't like Ken and I'm not married to him, but he was really nice and thoughtful and gentle. Most of all, he looked at you with love. I had known him for years, but I had never seen him treat a girl so gently. He must be the one."

I was not confident in her claim, "The one? Maybe."

It was especially strange for me to hear this coming from Catherine, the female lead.

If it had not been for me, she and Ken would have been a couple!

I put away my confusion and smiled as I signed the contract with Catherine. Finally, I said goodbye to her and went home alone.

I said I was going home, but this was only my temporary home.

I moved out in a fit of anger because I had broken up with Ken.

I could not be happy anywhere without a warm hug and loving company.

I called Grace and told her, "I solved the financial problem, and you should keep your promise."

Grace was very happy. "Is that so? I want to see the bill and the contract with my own eyes!"

She only believed me when she saw the proof I sent.

I was a little anxious. "Did you ask about my mother? Did your mother Winnie tell you anything?"

Grace's tone turned cold. "Don't worry. I will tell you tomorrow."

She hung up immediately, which made me feel uneasy.

I went to the Flying Bird company the next morning.

As soon as I walked into the building, I felt strange looks in the employees' eyes.

The authority that I worked so hard to establish seemed to have quietly disappeared again.

What was going on? I obviously solved the company's crisis one after another. Why was everyone treating me this way?

When I came to the CEO's office, I saw Grace sitting in the boss' chair and looked at me with a pleased expression.

My face darkened. "What is the meaning of this? This is my office. I don't think you have the right to sit in it."

Grace was also not to be trifled with. She frowned. "Do you still want to hear about your mother?"

"Yes."

Grace threw a stack of photos on the table. "Since you are so curious, I will tell you the truth! The truth is, your mother ran off with a wild man overnight! She did not only betrayed my father, but she also abandoned her responsibility to the company!"

The photos on the table were indeed of Catherine Carter's, the true mother.

However, she was held tightly by a man whose face could not be seen clearly. She left with him and even boarded the plane.

"No! I don't believe it. This is fake! There must be a misunderstanding!" I kept shaking my head.

Grace saw my flustered expression and was very happy. "Whether you believe it or not, your mother was indeed such a shameless sl*t who seduced other men! As her successor, you also inherited her lewdness!"

She thought of Ken and was filled with anger toward me, "If it weren't for you seducing Ken, why would he help you invest in Flying Bird and allowed you to become the CEO? However, as far as I know, you hadn't seen him for a long time. Hahaha, you were finally dumped by him!"
