Silencing Her

Now Lucas was sure that the girl had gone mad. Was she even aware of what she said?

Lillian was fidgeting on the bed, her head lowered in embarrassment. "I don't want an injured person to be uncomfortable because of me," she mumbled.

"I'm fine," Lucas gritted but she held him by the pinky finger and looked up. To Lucas' shock, tears brimmed in those emerald shaded eyes. Lillian was not sure why she felt so sad. He was supposed to mean nothing to her but after finding out that he saved her, she did not want him to suffer because of her.

There was a long stretch of silence. Lillian was still pleading with him silently, hoping that he would at least let her pay back some of her debt.

"You better stay on your side of the bed," he warned. Lillian's face lit up. Was he going to listen to her?

"I will!" she promised. "I'll stay on my side. I'm a sound sleeper!"
