A Snowy Night

I am running through the snowy night, gasping for breath. My heart is beating fast as I make my way towards the bridge ahead. The foot was hurting but I ignored the excruciating pain and kept on limping. My eyes scanned the area.

The whole place is full of large trees which are looming above me like the giant monsters in stories. Some of them seem to be watching me with dark, beady eyes as if waiting for me to fall so that they can bury me in their midst. I pant for air and lean against a tree to rest but there is no time. I have to keep moving.

My hands are cold and I am shivering in the biting snow but I do not let go of the thing I am holding. I lost track of the days. I do not even know what year it is. All I know is that it is winter and that tonight is Christmas Eve. My feet were crying in agony but I ignored it and kept on running towards the clearing in the hopes of reaching my friend.
