Near Fredericksburg, Virginia, December 13, 1862
When the tingling stopped, Time Pilgrims Cathy, Howie, and Thomas were made immediately aware that their surroundings and climate had changed. It was dawn with a dense fog in the area. The temperature had turned to a damp cold. The smell of smoke and gunpowder was all around.
"Where do you suppose we are?" asked Cathy.
Thomas answered. "We haven't traveled in space so we should be right where we traveled to after Antietam. We should be just north of Fredericksburg."
As they slowly drove on, they could start to make out some buildings and ruins.
Howie checked his mini-tab. "December 13, 1862, let's see...yesterday the army of the Potomac had just bombarded the city and ransacked it. We better get our story straight as to why we're here."
Cathy put on a dark blue period jacket with large flared-out sleeves. "We will say we're visiting for a family reunion. Thomas, can you put on an American accent?"
