Stanley and Edmond arrived in Moscow and took the Trans-Siberian train to the city of Krasnoyarsk. They hired a large DF-300 snow vehicle because there were no roads leading through the tundra towards the area near what was called the Tunguska event. If they could get close enough, they would be able to see and experience what up until now remained a mystery. An explosion was reported by eyewitnesses, but it wasn't known if it was due to an air burst of a large meteoroid or comet fragment. What history did reveal was even though the explosion happened above the Earth's surface, the event was still referred to as an impact.
Stanley and Edmond were National's eldest time pilgrims. Stanley, the newest pilgrim was forty-seven and Edmond was forty-nine. Stan had a wife and two teen-aged boys. Edmond had only April when he lost his wife in the infamous Sundial time accident.
