Chapter 23

His blade pressed in just a bit more. A gasp of pain flew out of Neivayka’s mouth, and the reaction rippled through everyone.

Nesha’s arrow was notched and pointed straight at Wuden’s head while another blade peaked out from the opposite side of her head. She instantly recognized it as Argwyn’s and felt the anxiety ramp up. Nesha had to be good to have gotten away from that giant wolf/bear creature, yet even she couldn’t be so good as to fight off all six of them.

There was an odd scuffling sound only moments before all hell broke loose. One-minute Wuden’s blade was pressed into her throat, and the next, she was being shoved away and sent sprawling on the ground dazed by the rapid events.

Behind her, the sounds of grunting and fighting began to escalate. She hurried to stand up again with the intent of helping them. Yet the scene before her was something straight out of a fantasy novel, and she wondered how much help she would be.
