Chapter 26

On a loud gasp, Theo returned to them with a cough as if his throat had been scratched from the foreign voice. He looked around to regain his bearings before finally returning fully to them.

“It happened again, didn’t it?” Theo asked Pontius.

Pontius nodded nonchalantly.

“What? What happened again?” Neivayka pressed them, still feeling a chill from the voice.

“I told you, he can see the future,” Pontius explained.

She looked to Theo for confirmation. He gave her a weak smile with an even weaker shrug.

“My great, great, grandmother was the one who gave the prophecy,” he admitted.

“So, you’re the child of Rosilen?” Nesha’s voice boomed from the trees as she stepped forward.

Neivayka jumped and turned on her. “Don’t do that! Haven’t we all had enough surprises?”

“Hey, I looked back to find my ward gone. It’s you guys that have to stop… stopping,” Nesha defended herself.
