Chapter 27

Neivayka slunk in through the door of her apartment, looking cautiously around for her parents, wondering how late she was. Ever since she had come home last week, she hadn’t been able to stand to be indoors for longer than it took for her to sleep and get a bite to eat. Then she was back out, looking around at the people that would come and go. She had no idea what she was looking for. Maybe she was just learning to live with the shimmering. Some days it was fascinating finding people’s true selves. Other days, it was like walking into a nightmare; evil and Shadow lived everywhere and stalked everyone. However, she would much rather spend the days at the park watching the sweet angelic children play than at home locked in her room.
