She turned to Phyllis, whose face was just as pale and sunken in as Morty’s.

Neivayka smirked at them. “So… on that note,” she chuckled at her clever words. “I am leaving. You don’t have to worry about me being in your hair anymore.”

Neither one protested or cheered or anything that Neivayka thought they might. Instead, they watched her with a fearful gaze and stayed on the couch in deathly silence.

“Dang, Neivayka… did you have to scare them that badly?” said a familiar voice that sent her heart racing.

Just inside the door was Theo, leaning against the jamb with a smirk on his face.

“Theo!” Neivayka gasped out.

She raced over and threw her arms around his neck practically choking him in her exuberance. But he didn’t seem to mind as he let out a happy chuckle.

“ ’Bout time you called for us,” Theo chided joyfully.

Neivayka pulled away. “But I didn’t.”

“Iola came and told me you wanted to come back. Close enough for us,” he explained with a wide grin and a wink.
