Chapter 39

“What? What is it? What’s wrong?” Theo demanded.

He scanned the room for the source of her fear yet found nothing that would have tripped her panic attack. Her stuttering brain slowly processed the memory that was causing her worry.

“I have to talk to the Elders. I need to go now,” she insisted, trying to crawl out of bed.

When she tried to stand up, dizziness hit her, and she fell back on the bed. Her body had no strength and no will to carry her. Whatever had happened to her last night had left her feeling like she was barely recovering from the hard flu.

“Stop,” Theo ordered as she started to get up once again.

“I have to talk to them! I must, Iola wants me too!” Neivayka explained.

“Wait! Iola wanted you, too? Did she speak to you? What’d she say?” Theo questioned.

“She told me to go back to sleep, that I couldn’t stay and that I needed to talk to Steval!”

Theo was stunned and just stared at her until she tried to get up again and failed.
