Nesha growled menacingly. “You don’t think I know what is at stake? I have lost countless family and friends to Lorimer and his damned Shadow. I will fight it until my last breath, but even I must draw a line in the sand. And I draw it in between myself and that shifter that abandoned his pack and his family.”

Theo’s tone softened, and he reached out to put a hand on her shoulder. “Look, I really do get it. Jenese’s people are responsible for some of the worst atrocities that the Seelie court has ever seen. Up to and including murdering members of my own family. But she is my only hope in fighting the Shadow and Lorimer. If even half of what she has said is true, we must be ready. Like it or not, we need them.”

Nesha’s shoulders sagged a bit, almost admitting defeat.
