Chapter 81

Shantane sighed heavily in protest. “Come on… we’ll take the servant's passageway, and hopefully, they will not question it.”

“Thank you!” Neivayka practically shouted.

“I’m not doing this for you… I’m doing this for my brother. The Shadow Queen has put a bounty on his head worth more than any person, even a giant's weight in gold. Every fey, gnome, and elf is after him now… I’m hoping with the Shadow Queen gone, he can come out of hiding and fight again. He’s our only hope in defeating Lorimer… well, and maybe you,” Shantane looked her up and down, obviously weighing her abilities.

Neivayka didn’t volunteer to do anything beyond following her out the door, making sure to keep her eyes on the ground just in case someone had the gall to look into them. The very last thing she wanted to do was to fight her way out of the castle. She was the only one against who knew how many others. The odds were not on her side to get out of here alive if she had to fight.
