Chapter 95

The next day dawned with the sounds of busy animals, busy insects, and busy people hurrying about the campsite packing things up. Each and every one of them taking extra care to make the whole area look as if it hadn’t been touched.

Avery helped immensely, wiping out all traces of people with little more than a flick of her wrist. Theo surveyed her work and gave Avery a big smile.

“That’s really handy! Thanks,” he told her.

Avery flushed with pleasure and murmured, “You’re welcome.”

Neivayka smiled softly at the young dryad and mused, silently how odd it was to see green with a tinge of red.

Theo led the group into the jungle, with Avery bringing up the rear. She stopped several times to touch a few trees as they passed as if to say goodbye.

“Why does she keep doing that?” Nesha grumbled, walking beside Neivayka.

“She is their Guardian,” Neivayka commented offhandedly.

“She is slowing us down,” Nesha grumped.
