“So, they came through a while ago?” I repeated getting back to Herb.
He nodded.
“So, how’d you and your family fend them off?”
The answer to my question was actually attempting to form in my head. However, I was hoping that if I kept on asking the same questions that I would finally get the confirmation I needed.
Herb opened and closed his mouth as if the words were there but were stuck in his throat. He shuffled his feet becoming more and more visibly agitated. Turning his back to us once again he began mumbling to himself. Or maybe he was talking to Becky. I thought. Maybe that’s why he kept mumbling quietly.
“Herb?” I prompted.
I put my hand on his shoulder and forcing him to look at me, to keep him with us.
“Yeah?” he said in a shaky voice.
“How did you and your family survive the attack?”
