Chapter 115

The stone kept us on a steady course heading straight south. Just before I was sure we were going to hit Mexico the road just stopped. We had pulled up in a small town that only had one road in and one road out; and they were the same road. The road had ended on a pier that was facing the marshy waters of the bayou and I knew what the stone was going to say even before it pointed.

“Was it too much to ask that we would have a paved road straight to the cabin?” I asked on a groan seeing the tiny little boats tied to the dock.

“Of course, you should have known it wasn’t going to be that easy,” Benjamin admonished me.

We all walked to the pier waiting for the stone to show us the way. The sun was fading from the sky slowly and I realized that we were going to have to either wait until morning or take this trip at night.

“I guess we’ll find a place to stay for the night and leave at first light,” I said sadly.
