Dreadful

The King ordered a full city research, meaning the entire city would investigated as well as underground tunnels. Although the citizens complained about not being able to go out, they understood the circumstances and agreed.

With the sensory alarms Ena created, it was easy to detect if there was anything abnormal in the city. The royal family researched for an entire day and yet they still found nothing. But it was only the ground of the city that has been investigated, when they started investigating the underground tunnels.

They were surprised at how big it was, you could make an underground city in these tunnels. Once they went deeper, the sensory alarms started beeping like crazy, the guards immediately started to set out and look for any abnormal stuff in the underground. All of them stood there in shock, they couldn't believe what they were seeing.

There were dozens of the corpses of the dead children, their bodies mutated in a unpleasant form that the guards wanted to leave away as fast as possible.

"Let's investigate, we'll leave right after and signal the royals."

The guards nodded to each other as they tightened their masks in case there was any chemicals in the air. And they were right, there were syringes with green liquid on the floor, the liquid could be seen glowing in the children's veins as dried blood covered their face, arms, and near their stomach.

The guards could only scrunch in disgust, how could anyone do this to children? They were only 8-10 years old, beginning their youthful days. Along the syringes and the children, there were traces of magic used as well as signs of multiple people here. With the sensory alarms, it let out a coded beeping noises to let the guards understand what it was detecting.

Even after all this time, they were still amazed that an eight year old could develop something like this. Well...not that surprising since that girl came from the Quintus bloodline, but it was still impressive. Back to what the situation, they sounded the alarms tot he guards who were above them on the look out.

Soon, all of the guards came down to pick the bodies up and cremate them. There was simply no way they could put these children in the graves because of how they were mutated.

...

The citizens watched the guards carry the bagged bodies in the carriages. Families were crying, they felt devastate. horrible, and in terror about what happened to their children. With one sentence, "To the families who had their children kidnapped, they're now that. I give you all my condolences." Everyone broke down, they wanted justice for their children, they wanted the culprits caught and paid back for what they have done.

In the middle of the chaos, there stood Ena wearing a cloak with a hoodie over her head, she was perfectly hidden. Taking a peek at one of the bodies, what she saw nearly made her vomit. They simply looked disgusting, similar to those zombies in the movies back in her past life. Looking around, the chaos started to calm down but something was still amiss.

'Yue, something still seems wrong.'

「 Let me check the area. 」

There were a few seconds before her reply.

「 The system is in the area, it's possessing a body of somebody. Quickly look around. 」

Using Chi Detection, Ena focused on the chi that was in the air and started to find the person. There was about 32 people in the area, everyone looked sad...there wasn't anyone weird, but suddenly, there was an eerie feeling of the man she just detected past.

「 Him! That's the system interfering with our world! 」

'Isn't he from the Valor family? I read about him before, he's the duke of the Valor famiyand his name was Eldritch Valor.'

「 Tsk, his real name is Azazel. He's caused multiple places to corrupt, he's probably doing the same do this world too. To stop him, we either kick him out or kill him. 」

'Isn't he more powerful than me? I don't think I can kill him...'

「 Systems crossing into another world are bound to have weaknesses, however I don't think you can beat him so the idea is tossed out. For now, watch his actions as long as possible. 」

'Okay.'

Ena watched the him from afar, she was able to see him through the chi that was in the air. Eldritch didn't do anything except for looking at the city, he needed to see if there was important royal family here. Suddenly, he felt like he was being watched and turned into the direction.

She was quite surprised when Eldritch suddenly turned towards the chi she was looking through and immediately disconnected from it. She didn't want to take any risks of him finding out she was there and started to leave silently. But of course Eldritch wouldn't miss that, in the corner of his eyes, he could see a hooded figure walking away.

Luckily, she was able to leave before he could follow her.

Once Ena was in the clear, she took a sigh of relief.

It was now confirmed that Eldritch was the one behind everything, now she needed to think of ways to defeat him without fighting him. But that might be impossible, but it was still worthy a try. Leaving the scene, she started heading home. Luckily, the crowds weren't as crowded anymore so she could easily weave through the people.

'Yue, how long until you're able to kick the system out?'

「 I can't estimate it, he's getting stronger and stronger by absorbing the souls of the children. Make sure to not get caught by him no matter what. Though, with chi you might actually put up a decent fight but would still lose. 」

'Alright, for now. I'll devise multiple plans and see if any of them will work.'

...

Alden von Quintus, the king, was feeling as stressed as ever.

The culprit struck again and this time it was even more terrible. Dozens of children were killed by an underground experiment that was somehow hidden from the royal. He had finally had enough of this, this time, he would use his own magic.

Magic that he hasn't used for the past 5 years due to how powerful it could be and the after effects of it.

With a deep breath, particles of magic was leaked from his body as a red and black light appeared....

"Kotoamatsukami."

By giving his magic his intentions, it'll influence the people without them even realizing.

Even if it was a sin to manipulate one's mind, he had to do it for the city.

Alden didn't want the deaths of the children to be in vain.

After all, this was his duty as a king.

To protect.
