I opened my eyes looking up at the darkening sky. I sat up feeling as if the fight had never happened. The only thing that was different was that my eyes strangely started hurting a bit. I looked around me the cat food tossed to the other side of the alley. The monsters had disappeared. I stood up and grabbed the cat food when I heard a cat. There it was. The cat meowed and moved down to me purring, its tail twitching at the tip. I sat down petting the cat. I opened the can of food crouched down and fed the cat. I patted its head and said, "you know what I'm gonna name you pas." I didn't know why I had named it that but pas would be its new name.
(A/N: just in case anyone is confused about what happened: The girl was interrogating the mc then erased his memory and he woke up forgetting about the interactions he had with the girl and the dude. However, he still remembers his encounter with the monsters)
I arrived at the door after getting up all the stairs. realizing the door wasn't locked I opened it sighing I must have forgotten to lock it. I opened the door, no noises. I guess dad still wasn't back. I looked at my watch. It was 7:12. I fell back onto the couch. I rubbed my hurting eyes then feeling something in my pocket. I reached in and grabbed out some kind of card. I looked at it, it said:
MA
--------------------
for details please see the back.
I flipped the card over. and it looked like there was some kind of thumbprint I pressed my thumb against the indicator thing. Nothing happened. I tossed the card to the side and walked over to my room.
I sat down on my chair and flipped open my history book. Time to finish the homework I guess I sighed. and muttered, "Why do we get homework anyway" I starting reading the textbook and writing down notes, and wrote the answers to the questions in the homework packet we got.
After I finished I looked at my watch. It was 7:47. I yawned and rubbed the tears out of my eyes. I don't know why but whenever I yawned tears always came out of my eyes. Suddenly I felt a pinching on my hand. I looked down. then there it was. In my hand, there was a strange symbol of six marks. I looked down worriedly then with a flash of light the first mark flashed a light blue color then eerily glowing. I shook my hand frantically thinking that I could shake the thing off. After a moment my hand started throbbing. A strange sensation overcoming my body. I looked around everything looked normal except everything was had been tinted a blue. Panic filled my heart, but strangely enough, the pain in my eyes had subsided. Still scared I took a deep breath in.
"Why hello there," a charming voice echoed from the corner of my room. I jerked my head around. To see a woman looking as if she had been in her late twenties. Her blond hair flowed down her face just past her shoulders. Her arms crossed, leaning on the wall. She wore a blue outfit with armor layering her body. She had long legs and a body like you'd see in those T.V. shows that depicted a medieval setting. Herself being a perfect princess however looking at her again, she looked like some sort of general. Her expression wasn't happy it looked more indifferent to the world. Her icy blue eyes gazed in my direction as if they were boring into my soul. "No need to worry child I'm the same as you." She held up her left hand and took off the armor, revealing six glowing marks. I slowly got up out of my chair stepping backward.
Then hesitantly asked, "who are you?" part of me hoping that she could cure me of whatever was happening. Upon hearing this her lips slightly perked upwards, however not long after they returned back creating a face of indifference.
She then opened her mouth and asked, "Hello, my name is Evelyn Acker I am the second holder of this mark, you are the third. May I inquire your name?"
I looked at her then hesitantly answered, "my name is Winston Wang."
"A wonderful name indeed, I will call you Winston from now on" However when she said my name was wonderful it really looked as if she couldn't care less. She looked closely at me as if she analyzing me.
Then without any hesitation, I asked, "What are you doing in my house?"
As if slightly disappointed her lips slightly shifted into a frown then as if dismissing the thought she walked towards me then said, "choose to believe me or not my name is Evelyn Acker, So far there have been three holders of this power." She said pointing to her hand. Then continued, "I am the second holder of this power. However, my mortal body has long since perished. I am here in your dwelling in order to teach you the way of this power."
"I believe you," I said in a confident manner. I felt like I could believe her I mean with all the things that had happened to me today, I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.
"I'm guessing no one has had the pleasure of teaching you an ounce of magic?" She asked. I nodded my head. She thought to herself. Then she stepped forward and raised her arm at me firing something but before I could discern what it was I felt drowsy my limbs exhausted. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.
After some time I opened my eyes. I was sitting on a green field. "Winston?" I heard I voice from behind me. It was Evelyn.
"Where are we?" I asked incredulously.
"We are deep inside your mind so I can teach you in an easier manner." She said. Then she stepped forwards and held out her hand, projecting a picture of a human body. Then within a few seconds, the skin, muscles, and fat started fading away, becoming translucent. I could see the bones and organs, as well as blood veins, and nerves, but there was also something else. They looked like blood veins but they were a white color. The veins extended all throughout the body. Then as if reading my mind she said, "these are called mana veins. They extend throughout your body allowing you to wield magic. however, not all people are like this." Suddenly the projection changed. It looked almost the same as the last, except there were no white veins. Then it changed again this time the white veins extended from the heart into both arms. "Not all people are born with the same amount of mana veins in their body."
Out of curiosity, I asked, "how many veins do I have?" She smirked then the projection changed again into another body. This time there were mana veins everywhere except the left hand. I stared in amazement. I looked down at my hand the magical symbol still shining brightly. Then the projection changed again. This time looking like a pendant.
She took a breath before continuing, "This is the arcane amulet. It is a sacred treasure that is created on this plane every three hundred million years. It is guarded by three deities, as well as an army." The picture changed again to three different people. The first person had electricity crackling around him, he wore loose robes that showed his muscular build. The second person had his hair tied up into a bun. A scar tore down his rather serious face, and he wore a blue robe that hung tightly to his body, with bandages wrapped around his forearms and shins. The third person was a woman with pink hair that flowed loosely down her body. She looked amused and had thin clothing covering her arms and legs, with thicker robes covering the rest of her body. "These are the three deities that protect the amulet," Evelyn said before changing the projection into terrifying creatures like I had seen in the alleyway. "These are shades, long before your current world existed. Billions of years ago there were many different races, including humans, shades, elves, dwarves, and etc . . .They lived in harmony until one day the arcane amulet spawned in. Every living creature then received the information that by obtaining the amulet they could have any wish of theirs granted, then chaos ensued. The shades brought upon a terrible plague that could corrupt the minds of any creature. The angles allied with the remaining races that were not corrupted and blessed 7 creatures and a legendary battle ensued. The humans won and wished to seal all magical things away forever all other races were sealed away and the mana veins within them disappeared. However, the amulet didn't feel obliged to seal away itself. With the unrest of the magical families as well as the Amulet finding its way onto Earth. A civil war ensued. The once magical families bribed many nobles with the thought of new land and more power. As a result, The magical families obtained the amulet and wished to break the seal, at first it was slow the number of magical races the were being unsealed. Maybe once every couple hundred millennia. However now in your current day, magic is being reawakened into the world at a quickening pace. As a result, the past 7 heroes are choosing new heroes." When Evelyn was finished explaining she said one thing that shook me to the core.
"Now it's up to you and six other creatures to save the world ."
