[AN: I feel like this chapter and probably a couple more really dialogue heavy if you don't like it feel free to tell me how you think I could change it]
I opened my eyes, seeing that I was back in my room again the night had fallen but I could still see the outlines of my room. I stood up and stretched for a second, almost forgetting what had happened.
"Once your done stretching can you please look at me so we may continue?" A voice asked. I turned around seeing Evelyn. Her cold eyes gazing into my soul.
"Sorry," I said in a guilty tone.
"It's fine," she sighed. Then continued, "please hold up your left hand" I nodded and held it up. She held my hand and directed my attention to the mark. "This is your trump card. All seven warriors have marks. The first one having one mark, the second having two and etc . . . As you collect more marks you get more powers."
Before she continued I asked, "How can I get more marks." she frowned, then spoke,
"I was just going to get to that please do not interrupt me in the future." She cleared her throat then said, "The first mark you awoke was precognition It allows you to experience the future only if you will certain death is plausible. "
Slightly annoyed I said, "That still doesn't answer my question." She took a deep breath then vanished. Suddenly she appeared behind me before I could move she said,
"It will be easier after a quick little thing. It might hurt at first but please pull through." She smiled. I wondered what she meant. She laid her hand on my back. Then suddenly cold energy started emanating from her hand. With a burst of energy, I felt as if someone had burnt my back. I screamed out in pain. My skin feeling like it was tearing its self apart. Each tear slicing through my very existence. I yelled out again. My body going numb I tried taking a deep breath as each limb started to burn. Then my stomach erupted in pain. It felt like a bowling ball was rattling up my insides I groaned this time. I felt like vomiting right then. But suddenly just as the pain had started spreading to my chest it slowly started receding. The pain turning into almost a feeling of bliss. I took another breath. When I finally felt normal I looked around for her. I saw her sitting on my chair looking in the opposite direction. Then she asked,
"Are you done yet?"
I didn't even answer and asked, "what did you do to me?"
She turned around, and said, "I just cleared out your mana track completely. Over the years it's just been sitting there collecting dust." She stood up and stretched her arms up in the air, and yawned. She then said, "If you'll look at your hand again you should see something new." I looked at my hand nothing changed. Curious I flipped my hand around and on my palm, I saw an empty circle with symbols surrounding it.
"What's this?" I asked.
"You can think of that as a tracker. When a creature dies it releases its lifeforce and condenses it towards its center, and releases a sphere of energy called a core, For your situation, you will need to hunt and kill shades and gather their cores. As you gather them, that circle on your palm will start to fill, after it fills you will gain your next mark. However, before we do that we need to work on something else, practicing your magic."
"Magic? but I thought you said that this thing." I pointed at my hand then continued, "was my greatest weapon."
She sighed like I was an idiot then rebutted, "How do you expect to get more marks if all you can do is see into the future." I sat down there feeling pretty stupid. "Anyways continuing on you need to think of mana as part of yourself. once you can do that you can manipulate where the majority of your mana is and create magical things like fireballs, or tsunamis. However to first focus on what you need to practice we'll need to test what affinity you have." She took out a small translucent stone and put it in my hand. Suddenly the stone started floating in the air. a white light pierced the stone and the stone began to reflect a light gray color. However the stone looked so pure, it looked like energy was swirling deep inside the stone.
"What's that?" I asked in amazement all the while being starstruck at the event that had unfolded in front of me.
"That is your magical affinity." She said in a nonchalant tone.
"What is it?" I asked in a hurried tone.
"You have no affinity towards any magical aspect." However, after she said that, as if sensing my thoughts she continued, "However just because you have no affinity toward any magical aspect doesn't mean you can't practice magic. All magical affinities do is add elemental, or some aspect towards your spell. without any affinity, you can still enhance things like your strength and etc... "
"Well, how do I practice magic?" I asked. She walked towards me until she was in arms reach and placed her warm hand onto my chest.
"First I'll show you how it's done." She said. Suddenly I felt an odd sensation pop up in my chest. almost as if my body had created something magnetic. She took her hand off my chest and said, "That's how manipulating your own mana should feel. to manipulate your own mana you should try to first envision your body, try to think of your mana as some kind of object in your body, then move it." After that, she said, "I will temporarily leave now, I have some urgent matters to attend to." And with that, she just disappeared. I looked at my watch it was 8:35 I looked back up around the room. I waved in front of me to make sure she was really gone. Then excitedly I sat up straight and closed my eyes. Trying to imagine myself. Though no matter how hard I tried nothing happened. I couldn't recreate the sensation that Evelyn had created when she had tried.
[AN: Reading this last sentence. I realize out of context it sounds kinda bad lol, but imma keep it in just because. don't. read. it. out. of. context. people. This is not one of those novels]
After giving up I sighed, so much for that. I got up and started to make a late dinner.
[AN: okay I'm sorry this is the last time I swear. Just ahead imma make a cooking scene because I wanted to. anyways after that, this chapter will end. If you are not interested in reading feel free to skip the rest of this chapter. ]
I walked over to the kitchen and picked up the MA card, stuffing it in my pocket. Once I got into the kitchen I grabbed a heavy bag of rice and carried it over to the counter. I put what I thought was enough rice into the rice cooker's little pot thing, then I walked over to the sink to rinse the rice out a couple of times. After I was done I put the pot into the rice cooker and pressed the start button. The twinkle twinkle little star noise played. I opened the fridge to look at what was inside. I took an egg and whisked it inside of a bowl. In two other bowls, I put in two cups of flour and a handful of bread crumbs along with various other spices. I grabbed some chicken from the freezer, and warmed it up in the defrost setting on the microwave. Afterward cutting it up into decent-sized pieces I covered each peice of chicken in the eggs, then the flour, then the breadcrumbs. Afterwords I poured oil in a pan, and turned the heat on, until I could see a small bit of smoke trail away from the pan. Then I put in the chicken and put a lid on. Making sure afterwords the the heat was a medium low. I then went into the fridge and grabbed a bag of broccoli. I washed out a decent bit then filled a small pot with water. Then put the pot on the fire. The water started boiling about a minute later. I put the broccoli in the pot and waited.
Around 4 minutes later I flipped each peice of chicken revealing a beautiful golden bown crust on the underside. The oil created an oddly soothing sound as it cooked the chicken. After I had finished I took the broccoli and strained out the water. I brought the broccoli to another pan and put in some oil and turned on the heat. After it had started smoking just a little bit, I put the broccoli in along with, oyster suace, soysuace, and a little bit of vinegar.
After the rice had finished I ate then went to sleep.
