Later that night.
Gisele was idling in her room when a knock resounded. She lazily stood up and went to open it. The guard standing at the door were both staring her in the face.
She gave them a questioning look that suggested they started talking.
"Miss, Master asked us to pass this for miss" One of them stepped forward and said with a respectful gaze. Gisele looked down at the file in his hands.
It took a few seconds before she finally stretch her hand to take the documents. Her fingers gingerly stroked the printed documents and then opened it. It was the signed copy of the contract age had made. He got his lawyer to make it a legal document and registered it under his name in the court just like her first terms said.
Her eyes shine like a 3000 watt lightbulb. If the guards didn't already know what was written in the documents, they would think she was just given the legal tender of a treasure worth billions of dollars.
This was really a priceless treasure for Gisele. Freedom is priceless, haven't you heard?
"Ahh Thank you, Thank you" She thanked them and walked back into the room carrying the file.
As soon as she got back into her room, her first instinct was going for a stroll outside, she had been locked in her room for days and she couldn't even go out of the room. Surely she could not wait to take a drive round town.
She immediately got dressed. The weather was cold so she put on a something warm. A pink top and a black leather jacket coupled with a black windbreaker jacket.
Gisele had her pride so instead of taking the pink car her had initially given to her, she opted to take public cab. She had said they would live like roommates so apart from sleeping and eating in the house, as well as wearing the clothes he had initially bought for her, she would not take or use any other thing he had given to her. From her phone she ordered a cab and waited till it got to the estate gate. When it arrived, she board it and left the premises.
...
She alighted somewhere in town. The time was late already and it was night but that time of the night where the streets got even busier than during the day. Small night stalls that opened to sell fast foods to passerby where hustling to get customers, making the roadsides even more crowded. Coincidentally, there was a firework display that night at the south bridge district. Gisele excitedly joined the elated crowd gathered to watch the fireworks go off.
Couple with the bright moon shining, the explosive light from the fireworks going off in the sky, joined to brighten the streets even more. She stood to watch the display and even took a few pictures before leaving to explore other places.
She didn't hail down any cab this time and just continued walking down the road. Mr Williams had forwarded her the monetary benefits for being the Face of glamour so she did not hold back to spending. Gisele stopped at a stall selling candied thwarts, she bought a few and proceeds to chew on them but as she turned, she unexpectedly bumped into a soft figure.
"Sorry" The girl apologized anxious and immediately scampered to gather the papers that was being scattered around by the gentle night breeze.
Gisele also bent and began picking the papers with her. Her eyes involuntarily scanned the contents on the paper as she picked them.
Medical records, bills and a contract?
"I'm sorry, please excuse me" The young lady hurriedly snatched the papers from her hand and began hurrying away. Before she could walk far away, Gisele chased after her and grabbed her hand
"Brenda?" Even if there was a hoodie on the girl's head and she had only had a one minute glance at her face, she could still recognize who the young lady watch.
The girl's figure stiffened. She didn't look up at Gisele, rather she adjusted her hoodie to cover her face even more and dragged her hand away.
"Sorry...yo_you have the wrong person" She found it hard to utter her sentence in one go. She stammered for a few person then tried to keep walking away.
This time Gisele didn't stop her, she just stood there and watched the girl's figure blend with the crowd and finally disappeared. Once the girl was completely gone, she lifted up the paper in her hand. Brenda had been in such a hurry that she didn't notice she had dropped a two pages file from the papers in her hand as she left.
A Contract and then an attestation of breach in contract?
Gisele stood there and began reading the papers. Her express dulled with the more words she read and by the time she was done, she had totally lost the happiness that was in her heart few minutes ago
The content were... Just so so.
No wonder the lady she saw was mile different from the proud and noble girl she had met at the mall and then at Glamour. This version of her looked worn out, haggard and full of despair, she could even get a hing of not wanting to live anymore from her. She must have been through a lot since the last time they crossed each other part.
Gisele sighed and put the paper away. In the entertainment industry such things were to be expected, even she was sure she would get her share of betrayal and schemes later in the future when she begins to gather fame and she was getting prepared for that. What Brenda was passing through was not nice and was really despairing but it was better outsiders like her did not get involved or the issue could only get worse. In such circumstances, the best way of doing a greater good was to mind your business basically. She shook the unhappy thought out of her head and continued to go on her night stroll but just after a bunch of steps she stopped involuntarily.
The best way of doing greater good was to mind her business?
What a load of crap!
They might not know each other and was nothing more than acquaintance— strangers actually but Gisele was very reluctant to pretend like she had not known what the problem was. This was injustice and if there was anything she had really come to hate, it was injustice.
Gisele walked to the roadside and flagged down a cab.
"Easton Villa" She said her destination and immediately got in. Seems tonight adventure was put to an abrupt end.
As she rode back home, she immediately put a call through to Mr Williams.
"Good evening Mr Williams, I hope I m not being too much of an inconvenience?" She greeted in a light voice. Even though the man was just preparing to go rest at home after having a hectic day of work, he was immediately energized by the girl's clear voice.
"Not at all Miss Gisele, is there a problem?"
"Not really but I need a favour" Gisele told him briefly of her encounter on the road, she skipped the part of wanting to be a hero to the damsel and just spoke of wanting to return the documents the girl had left behind.
"Brenda?" Mr Williams asked uncertainly. He has dealt with a lot of celebrities over the king run so it was always hard to keep memory track of who they were.
"Yes, she's the lady I had helped to get a session with you the day you gave me the contract"
"Oh is that her?" Only by explaining like that did Mr Williams manage to remember who she was talking of. That too because he remembers he had to keep CEO Devon Montero waiting to get that girl's photoshoot taken.
"Yes so can you help me with her contact info, you must have keep such information in her booking records right"
"Yes it should be there, You're lucky I was just about to leave the studio. Hold on, I'll go look for it"
Gisele beamed gratefully "sure, I'll call back in a while"
She cut the call and at the same time made her way into the house. It was late already but the sitting room lights were still on and Butler Ken and Aunty Lou seemed to be loitering around the place.
Where they waiting for her?
"Aunty Lou you haven't gone to sleep yet?" Gisele asked curiously.
The elderly woman shook her head "How can the servants sleep peacefully when both subordinates were not back yet.
Both subordinates?
Devon wasn't back yet?
That was a different shade of surprising. It was not in his character to be late in arriving home. Even if he had a million things to tend to at the office, he would usually just bring them back home and qork on them in his study at home.
By any chance was he too angered by her that he chose to sleep outside?
Tsk tsk, what a loss it was for him.
