Tracy Kelly couldn't believe time had flown by so fast. The years had flown by so quickly and she knew time was limited now. As she exited the vehicle her eyes dimmed in the bright sunlight. Her coat flapped with the breeze and her hair hugged her face. She smiled that radiant smile as she looked around, today was that day she most anticipated. What a beautiful, golden day it was, such perfection she thought. The campus was truly a beautiful place during autumn.
She took a deep breath as she walked towards the campus office. The students milled around taking in the early morning sunlight chatting with each other, some were even getting a little too cozy, Tracy chuckled to herself as she passed by the young couple. It was just as she remembered her own time spending it in the arms of the young man whom she was madly in love with.
Now was not the time for all of this as she gathered her thoughts before they consumed her.
Life could not have been more beautiful for Tracy. Even at the age of thirty-six she was striking in beauty, with her long red hair and beautifully pose body. She was the envy of many around her. Her beauty was indeed inherited from her mother who was a former beauty in her days.
Thinking of her mom and dad her heart dropped a bit as she had not seen them in the last three years. She missed them dearly, but she was so busy and caught up with her work she hardly had time to visit ever since that day. Tracy hoped they understood why she left without looking back and hopefully they had forgiven her after all this time. She refused to let the memories darken the already gorgeous morning she was having. Her heart felt more lonely and heavy today, but with a pep in her step she shook of that feeling and made a self note not to let anything ruin her day.
She was ready to conquer every obstacle again. "Tracy," she heard her friend Amelia calling out to her. Turning around she saw her hurrying with coffee and what seem to be donuts. "Why are you in such a rush?" Tracy asked confused. Amelia looked at her in disbelief, "Do you think I would have missed today, I have to be here to give you moral support, she said with a serious face.
"What did I do to deserve a friend like you?" Tracy said. Amelia smiled and handed her the coffee "Come on lets go there is no time to waste."
Nearing the building entrance, Tracy paused as a familiar voice caught her ear. It couldn't be, could it, after all these years. As she took a step towards the side of the building, she gasped, her eyes had to be deceiving her. "No!" she nearly shouted. Amelia became alarmed and held her arm. "What is it? she croaked. She sounded so afraid and dared not lean forward to see what Tracy was seeing.
This couldn't be happening just as she was finally placing the pieces of her life back together, the past was here right in front of her. Tracy felt faint as the emotions and memories came rushing in, she continued starring ahead. There stood the tall, handsome, well dressed stranger. Why is it that everything she thought of not to ruin her day was happening. Tracy knew this was a shock for her.
Recalling the events of that fateful day was something she had willed herself not to think off and what she lost. Life really had a funny way of playing tricks she mused to herself unhappily. "Why did it have to be today?" Tracy thought to herself, as she willed herself to look again at the scene in front of her. She knew she would have some explaining to do for her best friend.
" It had to be him," she whispered. Amelia looked even more puzzled but seem to realize what was happening,
Tracy's heart pounded in her ears as she stepped forward to get to get a closer look. Moving swiftly and as silently as she could she saw a strikingly gorgeous young woman standing next to him with a young boy. He was bending down and lovingly stroking the boy's head. That had to be his son. Tracy's heart was breaking all over again.
He stood up and hugged the blonde woman. She was even more beautiful Tracy noted dully. As he released her and stood back, she took him in, all of him. He was even more handsome than she remembered, age didn't make a difference. It was him.
Time stood still for her. He was all her eyes drank in and she knew she couldn't leave just yet. "Was this another chance to make it right?" With questions swirling around and no answers Tracy knew in her heart there was only one thing to do in that moment. Even before fully allowing herself to move she felt the tears welling, "No!" she whispered I will not allow myself to cry on this gorgeous morning .
Not knowing what to do in that moment she tried her best to compose herself and to take control of her thoughts that was running very wildly in her mind. She had to get of here and very fast before he saw her. She tried to move yet she felt the distance and space close around her. Tracy had to get away from him, she just couldn't explain what happened all those years ago, at least not now. How could she. He would demand the answers to all the questions he had and that was something she knew she couldn't promise to give.
In her haste of turning around, she failed to notice the cracks on the ground and her heels got stuck and refused to budge causing her to almost toppled to the ground.
She grabbed the wall for support before she fell to the ground. She laughed mockingly, that would be icing on the cake she mused. Amelia quickly reached out to grab her helping her steady her feet. "I'm sorry Melia", Tracy said her voice barely above a whisper.
Tracy knew now she had made a spectacle of herself, students stopped and watched her curiously and amused. Her face flushed red with embarassment. When she finally got her footing, shakily standing up with wall to lend a help and Amelia at her side, she saw him looking at directly at her.
Her heart stopped beating for that mere second. He took a step towards her direction just as she turned around. "Isabel!" he called out to her. "No," she silently screamed to herself . Did he really notice me after all these years. Tracy's throat felt parched and choked up. Amelia was looking at both of them speechless.
Tracy could hear him approaching even though her back was turned, she just could not find the courage to turn around and face him. Such a coward. "Isabel, is that really you?" his husky yet warm, low voice said. She felt him even without his touch.
She knew he was right behind her, he had the same effect on her. Tracy felt as if she was frozen, "Please don't touch me," the voice inside her head screamed. "No," she replied very coolly without turning around. "Turn around," he said. I heard the command yet gentleness in his voice.
"Tracy what is going on, do you want me to go and get help?" said Amelia.
"No, it's ok. Everything is fine Melia.
"Tracy, who is Tracy? said the voice behind her.
"I am Tracy, Tracy Kelly," she said her voice barely a whisper. " I have to go, so please excuse me." She walked away as briskly as she could trying not to fall again. She would have to apologize to her best friend, hopefully she would understand her reasons.
Without even a glance backwards Tracy felt the tears nearing. She knew in that moment she had never stopped loving him, the one and only Keron Mc Knight. She was still in love with the guy who stole her heart all those years ago. Her heart felt as if it was going to burst. Reaching the car she quickly got in and started slowly driving away. Tracy knew she had to get away from here, from him, from his love and life.
Leaving the parking lot Tracy willed herself to turn around, just one glance she said.
Turning to look over her shoulders, her heart stopped but for a split second, the sight was not what she expected but there in the distance the one man whose presence caught her of guard. With his commanding yet gracious presence as if untouched by the crisp morning air.
There he was standing in the same spot where I left him.
